Baby Showers

I was not expecting any, being my fourth kid. But I have two friends throwing me small baby showers. I am so touched and happy. Just wanted to share. Smile

That is so nice Joy!! But your last baby was a girl almost 5 years ago so I think you deserve a baby shower Smile

Thanks Jess! You are right, but I feel honored no one had to step up! And my momma will be here for them too Smile I still have some neutral stuff (like bassinet and tub type stuff). I am getting so excited!!! Now we just gotta firm up a name!

Congrats Joy! Every baby we have is a VERY special event.....I think a party for everyone should be the norm. Idk why people think one is the limit. It's just like a 0-age birthday party for baby. =/

That's awesome! I'm really happy for you. Its nice for people to offer without you needing to ask or hint that you need stuff. I can't wait to see shower pictures on this board.

Wow, that is so cool! I feel the same way too about showers. My "best" friend asked me when my shower was going to be!? I wanted to laugh and say, I don't know, you tell me?! I doubt there are any showers in my future.

HA - YES! So many people ask me at work when my shower is because they want to come and I just keep thinking "um, as soon as you plan it?!"

One shower will be Oct 4th. I know it seems early, but my last baby was a January baby and hardly anyone could make my November baby shower Sad It sort of made me sad. Also it is a week day because they are homeschool friends Smile

The other is the first weekend in November.

I totally agree all babies should be showered!!!! They are all special and a gift!!!! Smile

Joy that's so great that someone is throwing you an unexpected shower! I too have always thought that every baby should be welcomed with a shower, even if it's a diaper shower, as all babies need those! And just to celebrate the fact that mom will be a new mommy soon, even if it's her fourth baby (like me lol)!

I kind of know how you feel on this! None of my friends have ever thrown me a shower, my mom always does it. Well, I didn't have one for my second baby because it was another boy and I really didn't need anything (and other circumstances were going on that I don't want to tell you ladies about or I don't think any of you would want to be my friend anymore LMAO!)... but I of course had a big shower with baby #1 and with DD, as I had finally gotten my girl!

I'm still not sure if I'm going to do one with this baby. I'm starting from scratch as I have either donated or given to friends all of my baby stuff, so I have nothing except for what I've been buying myself little by little! My mom has again offered to throw me a shower... but then offered to instead just take a day where she takes me out to lunch, then we go to Babies R Us on a shopping spree and she buys me everything that I need for baby! I am so blessed to have such a great mom, and am now torn as to what to do! Both options sound so great!

You have told us before and it doesn't stop us from being your friend Smile

And I meant to say the other day that if my mom offered me $500 or a baby shower I would take the cash and run to BRU and get everything I needed that day!

I would totally take the money over a shower too.

Lol Jenn I think I posted about it on another board that you're also on, so I don't think any of the December ladies know the real deal!

I was also thinking it would be more fun to go on a baby shopping spree... and she said she'd take me out to lunch, too! Mmmmm choices choices (for food lol)!

Aren't mom's the best Krystal!! I would rather go on a shopping spree with my mom than have a shower any day. She bought me this incredibly nice dresser for the baby, and I'm sure she would help me out with other big purchases if I needed them.

My mom offered to throw me a shower too, but I guess I'm really just not interested. Sounds more of a hassle than anything, and I just need clothes really. My sister says even without having a shower, everyone will buy me clothes for the baby, and I'm doing an exchange of clothes with a friend next month, so I'm not too worried about it. I would rather have my "friends" offer to babysit while I nap, come vacuum my carpets, make me a meal etc. after the baby comes!

My mom is definitely the best! She even watches my kids for me three days a week while I'm at work! She also lent me the money to get baby's crib and dresser before someone else snatched it up (we got it off of CL).

OMG if someone offered to babysit for me I would just die! None of my friends ever do that! Sadly I'm just not close with any of my girlfriends anymore. I'm not sure what happened, but we've just all grown apart. Oh well, I'm perfectly content with just being with DH and my beautiful children... but I'm so glad I have you ladies to come and chat with everyday!! :bigarmhug:
