Best US stores to shop in? Seattle?

So my mom has offered to make the drive down to Seattle with me to go shopping! Biggrin yay! I am dying to go to Carter's. I was on their website and was soooo sad when I realized they don't ship to Canada!

What sort of stores should I be looking for? I don't think we have many of the same ones up here so I'm not sure where to start. I am looking for clothes of course, but also small baby gear...we won't have a lot of room in the car so nothing big! Is anyone in Seattle and knows of some good local stores?

Well I'm in Texas so I'm nowhere near Seattle, lol. But, we have Carter's too. We also have Gymboree, The Children's Place, and Osh Kosh. You might check and see if any of those are in or near Seattle. And of course there's Babies R Us. And another new store is Buy Buy Baby. I haven't been there yet but I hear it's awesome.

Another neat store is Pottery Barn Kids...they have really nice nursery things.

Definitely Carter's! Crazy8 is another cute one. Same makers as Gymboree, only not quite so expensive.

I'm Canadian and certainly don't know Seattle very well, but I do know that if I was going to the US, I would be hitting up the first Target I see! Heard they have some great, inexpensive baby stuff, and just read on another forum of a mom getting a bunch of gear (Fisher Price swing, jumperoo, etc.) for half price on clearance. And I've heard they have great inexpensive nursing tanks! Dang, I wish they were opening up here sooner than 2013 or whenever it's supposed to be.

I love Seattle! That's one of our favorite family vacation spots! You'll only be 3-hours from me Smile
I think the other girls mentioned the best places (Gymboree, Children's place). You guys don't have Target in Canada? I would die w/o Target! You have to go there for your gear & maternity clothes.

I used to go to Canada every summer for like 12-years & when I went I would stock up on candy bars! Chocolate is way better in Canada! My Grandmother is Canadian and she used to ask me to bring her back some too because she missed it. It was surprising to have a snickers/Ohenry/twix bar & have it taste different.

LOL- this is true Smile I have a friend in New York and I would mail her canadian chocolate bars from time to time. She always said our chocolate is the best Biggrin

I went to ND few weekends back and have to say Target had great deals on baby stuff, a whole lot cheaper than here. The rumor is that our Zellers store will be a target, but we will see if that happens. I didn't buy anything for baby though as I don't know the gender yet- so I hope I can convince DH to go back for some baby shopping and christmas shopping !!

:lurk:

I live about an hour north of Seattle. The Seattle Premium Outlets out of Marysville (Tulalip) has Carters, Gymboree, Gap (they do have a small Baby Gap section) and a couple others. The is a Target just north of there as well. The outlets are like one stop shopping. Have fun.

I would assume that Seattle has the same major stores that I do here in Las Vegas for baby. I would check the GAP, The Children's Place, Old Navy, Dillards... Gymboree sometimes can have some cute stuff but they're kind of pricey. I would also check and see if they have any outlet shops there as well, because then you can find the same cute stuff but even cheaper!

Old Navy has some really cute baby clothes. I was just checking out their stuff online today.

lurker- I just wanted to pop in and say if you're from the lower mainland that there is a Carter's outlet in Langley near the Wal-Mart that always has good deals.

I used to live in Surrey and work in Blaine, Washington, and went across the border all the time (had DS in Bellingham). Another store I would go to would be Ross in Bellingham. It's kind of like Winners but way better (and cheaper!) When heading south on I-5, you take the Meridian/Bellis Fair Exit. Once you go through the underpass it's on your right. It's my favorite place to stop when I go south. Smile That and Target, but everyone's mentioned that already. Smile
Happy shopping!

Thank you!!! I had no idea there was a Carter's here! If I don't get to it this weekend, at least I know I still can now before she arrives Smile

I'm in Bellingham (half an hour south of Canada) and we've got plenty of baby shopping. There's also another outlet mall in Burlington another half hour south of here, but it's been a while since I've been there, so I don't know what stores they have - I'm sure you could find out online.

In the Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham we have a Target (which does have good nursing tanks and I think they have belly bands) and a Gap Kids, Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy, Sears and a generic baby store that has good clothing prices. There is a Walmart outside the mall farther north on Meridian.

There is also a great store near the mall called "Along Comes a Baby" (good website, too) "Along Comes a Baby" is especially good if you're interested in cloth diapering and don't know where to start and I also went there to test out the moby carrier when Corinna was little. They stock Bum Genius diapers and prefolds. They are very knowledgable about a wide range of baby products.

There are several really good consignment shops, which are my favorite places to get baby clothes. My favorite one is called "Wee Ones Reruns"

The Fairhaven area of town has some really cute toy stores like the "Fairhaven Toy Garden" and "Wild Blueberries." It's a very touristy area and fun to wander around.

Personally, I think Bellingham is more fun to shop in than Seattle and you don't have to hassle with parking (free on weekends and after 5pm all over, always free at the mall) or very much traffic.
