Bleeding & Kicking

I had some bleeding last night. Not a lot, but any is too much for me. I called the OBs office and the message said something like, "You can get transferred to the on-call doctor but realize that they're going to charge $25 and then not be able to give an opinion over the phone and will tell you to go to the emergency room." So I just went to the ER. At 20 weeks they send you to L&D, but I'm 19 weeks 6 days so I had to stay in the ER. In any case, the babies appear to be fine. They couldn't spot any problems with the placentas or anything. I had the worst nurse who couldn't draw a blood sample from my hugely bulging veins without jab jab jabbing me and leaving a giant bruise. It's annoying because the bloodwork all came back abnormal anyway because apparently I'm the first person ever to have twins and they don't know what to do with my results. Also, it turns out baby B is a total jerk to baby A already -- I'll have to show you the artist's rendition of my ultrasound.

Your drawing cracks me up!

Sorry they weren't very helpful and you got a sucky nurse. Have you been able to talk to your OB today about the bleeding?

Yikes! How scary about the bleeding. I hope it was a one time thing. I've had a little bit this pregnancy too, I hate it! Although I haven't had any in about 2 months, it's still so scary to see it when you're pregnant.

Yikes! I agree any bleeding is too much even if it could be normal.

I can't believe they didn't send you to l&d. Despite being one dayshort. You carrying twins! I would think there'd be an exception. Oh well. I hopes everythings okay. If you have to go back in at least you know you don't have to go the ER.

Wow that really sucks about your emergency line at the OB office. I hope that everything is ok. What did your OB say about it today? Did you call and let them know about the visit?

Thanks, girls. I just called and left a message at the OBs office. The OB in the ER actually said he was calling my regular OB, too, so he should already know. Anyway, I just left a message saying that I wanted to be sure he was aware that I was at the ER this morning for vaginal bleeding, that there are two heartbeats, and I still have questions so he should call me.

Wow, sibling rivalry already, huh!? Love the drawing! Smile But I'm sorry you had to deal with the bleeding, hopefully you haven't had any more since? Take care and keep us posted.

Your drawing is hilarious!!! ROFL

I'm so sorry you had to go through all that stress this morning! I agree, you did the right thing by getting it checked out right away. That is so ridiculous you're having problems again with your blood work though!! I hope your OB can give you some answers. I've always heard that if you have bleeding but no cramping, it's not a big deal. I hope that holds true for you...lots of positive thoughts coming your way for you and your babies!!

Awesome artist's rendition! Biggrin We all need more artist's renditions in our lives! Biggrin

Sorry that your people weren't too helpful past the basics, but keep us posted, and we hope everything's going well for you from here on out!

Love the drawing Smile Why does your OB even have an on-call doctor if they can't do anything? Seems a little silly but at least the recording warned you. Hopefully you have no more issues but I'll send a few prayers your way just in case!

LMAO you're too funny! So did they give you any reason as to why you were bleeding? I think it's weird that they wouldn't let you just go ahead to L&D considering you're pregnanct with twins, and twin pregancies are typically considered high risk... especially since you more than likely won't carry 40 weeks anyway! Sorry you had to go through all of this!

I had no fewer than 5 people come in the room saying, "Birthday sex, eh? No more sex for you." So that was the consensus of a bunch of OB interns in the ER. I spoke with a nurse at my doctor's office yesterday and it was completely un-reassuring. That said, I'm feeling infinitely better after a good night's rest and I'm sure everything is fine. (If not, nothing I can do, worrying doesn't help, yada yada ...)

That totally sucks. I know they work with pregnant women on the time but they need to have some more compassion because this is your baby and it's important to you. I always try to remind myself of this when I am at work.

Yeah, but I realize everyone thinks they're a special snowflake. Wink
