Christmas gift idea

Okay girls, I expect you, like me, are expecting to be very busy around Christmas time.

Well, I am starting my Christmas shopping now in hopes of being mostly finished before Thanksgiving.

Money is tight with a new baby on the way and I really like to save money and get a good deal. I thought I would share this particular deal with all of you.

Today is the last day of a great sale on restaurant.com - you can get $25 restaurant gift certificates for as little as $2 and the certificates don't expire so that's what I am getting for a couple of my siblings for Christmas. Anyway, if you miss this sale, they are always having sales and even their regular prices are really good (usually $10 for a $25 gift certificate, depending on the restaurant).

BUT WAIT, there's more! If you sign up on Ebates.com, you can get 25% cash back at restaurant.com.

So, for example, I just spent $18 on $175 worth of restaurant gift certificates and I will be getting a check from ebates.com for $4.50 from that, so I really only spent $13.50. Crazy, huh?

The ebates site is actually great for a lot of shopping. I've gotten more than $60 on it so far in less than a year - all stuff I would have purchased anyway! For example, 1% cash back at Babies R Us or 2% cash back at Baby Gap. I've used it for Walmart, Lowes, Barnes & Noble, Travelocity, Hotels.com, and Coldwater Creek... And they just send you a check! Really, it's not a scam! I could go on and on about how great it is, but you probably don't want me to.

So, if you're interested in signing up (and you get a bonus just for signing up), here is my referral link:

That sounds to good to be true????! Have you bought from them before?

I am almost done Christmas shopping. Have 1 child left, and my husband's parents. We won't do a g/c for a restaurant for them though...they have diabetes and other health issues which limits to what types of foods they can eat.

Also have our son left...but he's easy, just a matter of getting to a store without him!

I do ebates too. It is great. I get my ebates payment through paypal. Everytime I shop online I try to find a retailer through ebates and compare and I usually find ebates deals are just as good if not better with the cash back.

I officially finished Christmas shopping last week. I wanted to get it out of the way... now comes the hard part... wrapping them.

Wow that's a great deal - I'll check out ebates today. I've used restaurant.com before and never had much luck. There aren't that many that participate in our area and when we have bought them the restaurant closed before we could use them - Grrr!

I may need to try them again this year.

I know what you mean about "not many in our area." I have the same problem here, but my brothers live in different cities and there are more choices. Also, I've noticed their selection does change.

I have used restaurant.com before and it works really well. You should read the specific restaurant restrictions before buying, though. They'll say things like "Can't be used on alcohol" or specify a minumum $$ purchase is required.

If the restaurant closed, you might be able to get some reimbursement from restaurant.com, like exchanging it for another gift certificate for someplace else. If you still have it, you should look into that.

Ugghhh, I totally feel you here. The thought of having to sit on the floor and bend over the gifts of six children wrapping for hours makes me want to cry!
