YAY Hilary for a good deal on the car seat. I am still shopping around. I just can't find anything cute for a little boy. All the girl travel systems are so cute with their prints and such. They limit boys to solid colors or stripes it seems.
I'm ready to get my car seat out of the garage and in a car! right now it is a waste of space anywhere I put it.
I want mine in my car now too but it just can't happen. I carpool (I drive my car and people ride with me) so I need every available seat I have in my car until the baby gets here. Once she is here my carpoolers will have to find another way to work since my car will be full.
Hilary - it is way different getting the big ticket items compared to the clothes and little stuff. Its so exciting!
THis one is getting DS's old car seat, so it is blue and grey checkered. haha
This is my one small disappointment with the Radian XT. It's really boring looking, lol
I have been searching online all day for a good priced travel system. Sears has some decent ones. Still just the plain jane basically found some that had circles.....lol I found one that was chocolate brown with light blue circles that I liked pretty well. Still not "cute" though and darn it I want cute!!
Is the one you used for DD girly or did you get rid of it?
I like ours but its not made anymore. Its browns and greens.
My new stroller that I'm buying for baby will come with an infant car seat of course, and thankfully my friend is lending me hers for DH's car! Those things are expensive otherwise!! I've been checking out craislist for tons of baby stuff, and there are some really sweet deals on there. Today I got a twin mattress that's only a year old for my boys' bunk bed for just $25!

She was born in December so all we bought was the carseat because I knew that going for walks, etc was not going to happen and since my hubby worked it was just easier to sit her carseat in the shopping cart so I could get groceries and such. We actually didn't buy a stroller until June when she was almost 6 months old and yes it was girly...lol. I doubt the stroller in the travel system we buy for Ryan will get much use at first unless we all go out as a family to shop so I can push the baby and hubby can push the cart. I actually want a stroller that is chocolate brown and teal/baby blue. I love that color combo right now.

I LOVE that colour combo too. If I could find some clothes in those colours that didn't have trucks or cars on them too, I'd buy them for our girl!
Hey girls... another slow day at work today! This Labor Day weekend is a joke! I thought I would be so busy here at the resort, and even though we have a full house, I'm not getting any tours out of it! I think there's only 7 more check-ins for tonight, and I have to be here till 9PM (five more hours!!!)!!! Ugghhh this is depressing...
Hi everyone....how's everyone doing? How was everyones holiday?
Krystal, Idk if it has anything to do w/ your slow workdays, but I know there are a bunch of fires going on down here in So Cal. On friday there was one on the Cajon Pass that shut down the 15 for quite awhile. I'm sure the fires are having an effect on LA flow to Vegas...
Lesley, yes, that I-15 nightmare definitely slowed the traffic coming into Vegas from California! It was terrible, I think they only had one lane open on the north side and going to Cali from Vegas was completely closed down! I was really looking forward to the pick up for the holiday weekend, and I swear it never came.
So today is my Monday, girls... so I'm back to work. My weekend was good though, I already posted about my shopping spree at Babies R Us that my mom took me on, and I also went to Home Depot and got a gorgeous baby blue color for the nursery that matches Trystan's Pooh crib set! So now on my next days off I'll paint, move the furniture upstairs, and hang his pictures! I can't wait!!
My nephew is going to arrive via C-Section next week, September 14th!! I am so excited for his arrival. He isn't due until Sept. 30th but the fluid around him is low so the doctor said once she hits 37 weeks he wants to deliver him. His name is going to be Christopher Alan. So cool that our sons are going to be 3 months apart. Our daughters are only 7 1/2 months apart with my DD being older.
That's so exciting Jessicah!! Do they live close enough so the boys will be close?
My whole family and DH's family all live within probably a 20 mile radius. We are all very close. My DD and my niece are best friends and I am hoping our sons will be just as close!
Wow that's great! All my nephews are within 6months of my kids ages but we live very far apart. You're so lucky to have family so close!
The only close family that I have is my immediate, parents and siblings. All of DH's family lives in Idaho. And I'm not close with any of my brothers or sisters because of age. I'm the oldest, then I have a 23 year old brother (unfortunately he's kind of a screw up and is away at one of those treatment centers in California for a year), a 12 year old sister, an 11 year old sister, and a 10 year old brother. But my kids are close to their uncles and aunts because they're so close in age lol... especially my (almost) nine year old son and my ten year old brother... and ironically my son Max and my sister that's 11 are very close... and of course my 12 year old sister loves my princess... so it all works out lol!
That's awesome to have family that you are so close to.
I am close to & w/ my mom, actually probably too much. My brothers are 8+ years older than me, but we ended up getting really close & then when I ended up w/ my SO & pregnant all of that split.
One of my bros is in Burbank, about 30 mins & the other one is in Prague, Czech Republic.
I have a sister in Reno who is 10 years older & now wants to become friends & close, but w/ so much going on & a distance of 9 hours driving it seems almost impossible.
Whew - just passed my GD test - yay!
WTG Jenn!!! So glad you passed.
I have 3 sisters. An older half-sister and 2 younger sisters. My half-sister didn't live with us growing up and we aren't very close. However, my two younger sisters are two of my very best friends. We are all very close now that we are adults. I am really close to my parents as well. Outside of my immediate family we aren't close at all. I don't really have a connection with any of my aunts, uncles or cousins. It's kinda sad really. They all live away and weren't part of our lives growing up. My DH has a super close knit family though. I've never seen anything like them! They have parties/get togethers for absolutely everything. They have accepted me right in as part of the family and I have always felt welcomed and wanted. I know most people think their in-laws are nightmares but I honestly couldn't have been luckier than to get the ones I have.
Jessicah - I have great in laws too. I feel bad for people that have in law issues because having ILs you love and have a great relationship with makes life so much easier.
My immediate family (mom, brothers, SILs and their kids, and my mom's mom) are all really close. We get together for every birthday and holiday and just for the heck of it too. My brothers were kind of jerks growing up but once we all became adults the shaped up and we are really close. My mom lives about a mile from me and I see her about 3-4 days a week.
I agree Jenn! I honestly know that if I called my FIL that he would be there in 2 seconds. My husbands grandparents (Moms parents) are just like my own grandparents. They even introduce me as their granddaughter to people. Then they'll quickly tell them "Well she's married to our grandson but she is a granddaughter to just the same."
Like I said before, my ILs live in Idaho (although they're not married to each other anymore, DH's mom is single and DH's dad has been remarried since he was a kid). We always stay at his dad's/stepmoms house every time we go up and they're OK (the stepmom is a little out there)... they're both LDS (mormon) and strict about it. I'm not and DH was until we got together because I refused to convert (I'm Christian), so it's a little weird there sometimes. I really like him mom, but we hardly ever see her, we maybe meet up once to have lunch with her while we're up there each time. But she's a nurse and I love the fact that anytime I have a pregnancy or regular "sick" question she's there to help me out!
Busy week for me coming up! Today is my half-sisters wedding. I had to work from 7-3 today and her wedding starts at 5pm. Tuesday is my step-sons 12th birthday and Wednesday my sister is scheduled to have a C-Section. We are doing my step-sons birthday party on Sunday, the 18th. It's going to be one heck of a week. I just hope I have the energy to survive...lol
Good luck with everything Jessicah! I swear there are a million weddings going on today here, too. I was wondering what all the hype was, until I noticed today's date (9/10/11) which is too funny... how into numbers people are! I don't think I'd want to get married the day before 9/11... just too sad somehow. I can't hardly watch any of the shows about it on TV because it's a hard thing to watch to begin with, and on top of it the fact that I've been so emotional this pregnancy... anytime I see anything 9/11 related I start crying like a little girl! I don't know how I'm gonna handle tomorrow... just keep the TV off I guess!
The wedding was beautiful. Short and sweet as most ceremonies are. We didn't go to the reception (it was just me and Brynna) as they were having an open bar and I don't really like my child being around people when they will be drinking especially in excess as most of them would have since it is a wedding!! My grandpa, who is a preacher, was the one who officiated the ceremony. And my sweet little niece Sophie looked so cute in her little purple dress up there with her mommy and daddy. She is 8 months old. Her birthday is actually Christmas Eve so it'll be interesting to see if her and Ryan are born on the same day.
Ugghh, back at work tonight. Normally I wouldn't care, but being as today is not only the anniversary of 9/11 and I've been watching all the coverage, but it's also Dallas' first game of the season tonight!! Hopefully I can get the game on my phone!
Yuck...sorry you have to work. I am dreading going back to work tomorrow. I really need to spend some time getting ready for a staff meeting and I just don't feel like it. I just want to be lazy.
My DH was highly ticked off today when our Sunday Ticket was on the fritz and he missed the first half of the first game of the season.
My back is killing me. I seriously need to set up an appointment with a chiropractor tomorrow!
Carrie I suffer with the back pain as well. Mine is more of an ache in the center of my back. Low back pain makes more sense but the middle of your back!?! It sucks.
I know just what you mean about your back Carrie. Mine has been killing me since the start of this pregnancy... and sleeping has become a nightmare because of it. I would kill for a prenatal massage! And then today my right leg started hurting and hasn't stopped. It's like a constant ache when I'm standing up, and I have no idea what's causing it. Plus, to top it all off, I'm having tons of pressure "down there" just like I had with DD, and with her it started in the third trimester as well. It's because of all that horrible pressure I begged my OB to induce me a week early, it hurt so much.
I'm having the same problem. I thought if I got back pain at all it would be in my lower back, especially since I've had problems there before. I was never expecting to have pain between my shoulder blades...and it's not like my boobs have gotten any bigger, so I can't blame it on extra weight there! LOL
I'm going to try to make an appointment with a chiropractor today.
I wonder if I can make it to 5,000 posts by the time the baby is born?!
You totally can! I've only been on this site since April and look how many posts I have! Try going to the gaming board and the debate boards... you can rack up posts that way!
So today is finally my Friday! I work till 9, then I'm off to my house where I'll hopefully "get some" lol because (shock and surprise to everyone!) I'm totally h*rny for DH lol!!! Then over my days off I'm gonna finish up the nursery!
LOL...I figured it out and I only have to average 4 posts a day to make it to 5,000. I am afraid of the other boards...I would end up spending way too much time there!
LMAO you're funny... it helps to pass the time, as in my case, when I'm at work lol! That's the only time I've ever on here... I don't know how I make a living lol! I'm telling you though, check out the gaming board at least, it's an easy 25 posts per day, and quick!
I didn't think I'd ever start earning pencils....lol
Today is my step-sons 12th birthday He was only 2 when my husband and I got together. He is such a special little boy to me. I may not have given birth to him but love him as if he were my own. We had to fight a long, hard battle to get custody of him but ultimately we won and our lives (and his!) have been the better for it. He may not see me as his Mom but I see him as my child.
For those of you with back issues I just wanted to say that my pregnancy support band has made a big difference to me. I got it last week in the mail and it took me a few days to get use to it but the difference it makes is worth it. I got one like this:
Its definitely not smooth on the sides so if you wear fitted clothes you can see the bumps and ridges. However, I was having that bad pain in my belly above my belly button and with this I don't have it at all. I also haven't had any lower abdominal pain since I started wearing it.
Jessicah - happy birthday to your son! Its great that you two are so close - oh if all stepparent/stepkid relationships could be that good.
What a sweet post about your son, Jessicah. Hope he has a wonderful birthday.
Jenn thanks for the link. I have been looking at those support bands because I thought they could make a difference but was afraid to buy one in case they didn't actually work...lol
The first day or so I was annoyed because I hated having it rub my skin and I had to readjust it during the day after I would go to the bathroom. But now I wear a thin tank top with the band on top and it helps the skin issue. Then after I go to the bathroom I pull my underwear over it so I don't have to take it off and redo it all. Its working great for me!
My handsome nephew has arrived safe and sound!! Christopher Alan was born at 8:04am weighing in at 7lbs 2 ozs (and that's with him being 16 days early!!) and he was 20 inches long. My sister is recovering well from her C-Section and Christopher is doing great.
Oh wow, that is great! He is the perfect size, and I bet she didn't complain about him coming early. Congrats!
Yay for healthy baby! congrats!
I've been having the worst 2 weeks of insomnia. I can't stay asleep longer then 3 hours. Also as a FTM I'm scared to death I don't know enough. I'm worried about things I am sure I shouldn't be but am lol. Like I got a bumper for the crib. (well it came with the bedding) One site said bumpers are bad... But honestly he'll be sleeping in the co-sleeper next to my bed for probably the first year. Sooo why am I worried about said bumper. I am having a lot of "what if I can't do.... " thoughts.
I went to school to be a Psych Nurse and I studied human development and I've taken care of children to adults with special needs. I'm terrified I don't know enough to care for Connor when he gets here. Like I'm scared he won't be warm enough when he sleeps or what if he gets sick.
Sorry I just needed a slightly exhausted neurotic rant lol.
Crissy I am a BTDT mom and I still have my freak out moments!! I wonder how on Earth I am going to be able to love two kids the same, how I am going to manage time between an infant and a pre-schooler, how am I supposed to work and take care of a house as well!! UGH It's very stressful right now thinking of everything.
Crissy - I agree with Jessicah. But also - as soon as Connor gets here its like the mommy switch is flipped and you just instinctively know exactly what to do. Its weird but it happens. I had never been around newborns for long periods of time and I had never bathed or fed a child - but the second Deacon was born I just knew what to do and it was MY way. Its really cool how that happens.
Yes, same here. I had never changed a diaper before Rogan! And don't get me wrong, even with instinct, it is still a learning curve (I was dreadfully afraid of cutting his nails!). Worry comes hand in hand with motherhood. You will worry about your child from now until the day you cease to exist! All you can do is your best. Relax, try to enjoy it and have fun. The newborn phase is a fleeting moment in time....
Chrissy, It takes a lot to break a human. You will be wonderful. lol. Ask for help if you need it & you can find it in a lot more areas than you probably think.
Does your hospital have parenting/newborn classes? Have you started looking at books like "what to expect in the first year?" It is instinctual. We are animals...no worries.
Morning ladies. I am hungry, but too lazy to get up & walk to the break room to get a yogurt. I know I'm going to have to pee as soon as I stand up... Grr, it's so annoying.
