Digestive problems

Okay so here lately, I would say the last week or two, the constipation has started again. Like it was for me in the first trimester. It's getting miserable. Guess I will have to break down and get dome MiraLax.

And lately, when I eat, I find I can't eat as much, even when I feel as if I'm starving. And then, the food seems to sit in my stomach like a block of cement for HOURS. For example, today I ate a late lunch/early dinner at around 4pm, and by 6:15pm I felt MORE full than when I had just eaten at 4! WTH! I was miserable. And now it's 8pm and I am just now feeling a little less full of food. And I didn't even eat a huge meal!

Last week my OB told me my stomach is emptying slower nowadays but this is getting ridiculous. Lately I've been feeling little baby wiggles up a little above my belly button so I'm wondering if maybe this is all because the baby is pushing things upward.

Anyone else having/had these issues now or in previous pregnancies?

I have battled constipation most of this pregnancy. I also find that I cannot eat large amounts even if I am starving to death! My problem is that 2 hours later I feel starved again!! I feel like I always have food in my hand!! Even my DH comments that I am always eating.

Ditto! Every night, no matter how much I eat, I feel like I'm going to explode!

Sorry you are so uncomfortable. It probably is related to the position of the baby. When I was taking zofran I took a stool softener everyday and that really helped when the BMs finally did come.

I take colace every couple of days and it really helps me out alot. I am much better now though being off the zofran.

my trouble is with working nights. I have never been able to eat at night without getting stomach pain. I can usually work a 12 hour night shift without eating as long as I have had dinner. My body just doesn't like to eat at night. Now that I'm preg I can't go all night without eating anymore. That puts me in a bind because by 2am I have terrible belly pain that lasts till noon or so the next day just because of nighttime eating. It's partially indigestion, tums and zantac definitely help!

the worst part about my last pregnancy was the last month or so. Luke's head was right on my rectum/distal colon. it was TERRIBLE! it felt like I had to use the bathroom ALL THE TIME and I just couldn't go. I'm really hoping i don't go through that again. so uncomfortable.

Looks like I'm heading to WalMart this morning to get some juice and Benefiber! Maybe if I get thing "moving" I won't feel so bad after I eat. Thanks ladies!

Benefiber has been hit or miss for me. I take it every day and one day I will have amazing results and then I go a week or so without any. I hope it works for you!

I feel ya...I have been having constipation problems lately too. I get antsy if I don't go every day or other day. It's been 3 days for me now...ugh. I upped my Colace to 2 pills per day the past couple of days (normally only take 1) so hopefully that will help when things get moving. I hate it!! I hate having to strain and push (TMI), I'm always afraid I will push the baby out or something! LOL

Or a hemorrhoid! I'm more worried about those. Ha

Is Colace safe to take daily through your pg? If so I'll get some today!

Can you get Colace over the counter? My OB only suggested MiraLax, but I will try Colace if I can get it without a prescription.

Yes, Colace is safe to take every day. I have taken it with all my pregnancies. You can buy it OTC, I just buy the generic walmart brand and it's a lot cheaper.

Colace is on my OB safe list. I just bought the Walgreens Stool Softener (It says compare to colace). It does wonders on making things more pleasant.

Exercising or going for a walk will also help kick start things.....only problem i find is, once it gets kick started you are 1/2 way across the neighborhood. =/

I'd take an emergency bathroom situation over not going at all at this point.

I really REALLY like this metamucil clear and natural. No nasty gritty stuff and you can mix it with any kind of drink or food. I take a spoonful every day and it keeps things moving. I can definitely tell if I forget to take it!

Ok, I just bought the colace. How many do you take a day? I just took one since I wasn't sure how powerful it would be for me. Now I am nervous, lol!

I also bought milk of magnesia. My BFF said her ob told her that she can take it once a week while pg so I figure if this doesn't work then I will take that at some point.

I bought the MiraLax. It's a white powder that can be mixed with any drink. I mixed it in a bottled water and then added a flavor packet to make sure I couldn't taste anything. We will see what happens....I hope it helps!

Jenn, I've never had milk of magnesia, that I can remember. Does is taste bad? For some reason it sounds like it would taste yucky, lol.

Katie - I do the same thing with the benefiber...I add a flavor packet to make sure I can't taste anything.

I haven't tried the MoM yet. I did take a Colace last night and so far nothing is happening. Maybe I should take 2 tonight.

I found that I was constipated in the beginning of the pregnancy, but it's OK now. I know what you mean about your meals, though. I also think it has to do with the fact that baby is now taking up a lot of room in there and makes it harder for you to eat a full meal!
