Since my u/s last week (when they said they thought it was a girl, but weren't for sure), I've had THREE dreams about the gender of our baby. Up until this past week, I hadn't had any at all, so it's been kinda weird. I've had one dream that it was, in fact, a girl, and two where it ended up being a boy. Last night I dreamed that we had our u/s and it was a boy, and there was a really small penis that we didn't see on the last u/s. In the dream, my DH was really upset because his penis was small. HAHA.
Anyway, I've always had REALLY vivid dreams almost every night. I can usually wake up every day and tell DH or my friends about my dream the night before. Last year I had a sleep study done (they were testing for sleep apnea, which I ended up not having), and the doctor said it was pretty rare to remember your dreams almost every night like I do. I know that dreams during pregnancy can get kinda crazy. Mostly I've noticed more scary dreams, like dreams where someone is chasing me or trying to hurt me.
Anyone having any crazy dreams lately?
I've been having vivid dreams too but I usually do anyway, just not this vivid. Last night I dreamt that me, DH and my mom were at the store looking for a coming home outfit for our baby girl. That's like my 3rd girl dream, including one where I went for an u/s and I asked if the nurse could tell the gender. She said "oh sure!" and pulled the baby out, looked between the legs, put it back in me and said "its definitely a little girl". LOL
Why do you think they said they think its a girl but not sure? Are they covering themselves or was it really too early to tell? I want to get a gender scan at 15-16 weeks at that place on 45 near Research but I'm worried it will be too hard to tell.
That's so funny--your dream about them taking the baby out and checking the gender, then putting it back in! How crazy would that be?
The u/s tech had a really hard time getting a clear shot between the legs. At first the baby had it's legs crossed and then when it finally uncrossed them it was moving around so much that is was hard for her to see. That, and it being still really early (measuring 15w5d), she said she didn't want to say something for sure and then be wrong in 3 more weeks.
Another teacher from my school had an u/s at that place near Research you are talking about.... at 15 weeks, and they were able to tell it was a girl. I thought 15 weeks was pretty early to determine a girl for sure, but she seemed pretty confident. Do you know how much the scans at that place cost? There is also that place in Portifino that will do 3D u/s. But, I go back on July 7th (less than 2 weeks!), which will put me between 18-19 weeks...I am hoping the baby will cooperate so we can know for sure!
That would be nuts. No thanks for 2 deliveries! LOL
The Portofino one is the one I called. They said if they can't tell they will let you come back at no charge. I asked how sure she would be of the gender and she said she wouldn't guess just to guess. So I think they feel pretty confident. Its $99 for a quick 10 minute scan to look for gender. There is a place across from my work that does it for $55 on Mon & Tues. But with dh working by the mall and I am by the galleria - he wouldn't want to make the drive. You could go tomorrow to the Portofino one and find out for $99 :P
Oh yea, lots of dreaming here too. I am dreaming current events, so if I see my friend's pictures on FB of her and her kiddos at the pool, then I dream I am at the pool with them that night. I did have a few gender dreams too, and the most vivid one was where I was going into labor and I had to be put under to give birth because it was a boy that weighed 9 pounds, and then I was struggling to carry him or pick him up bc he was so huge! haha.
Funny... I just read this on babycenter.com:
Dreams During Pregnancy
Many women report that their dream life shifts into high gear during pregnancy. Interestingly, during the second and third trimesters, you spend less sleep time in rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, the cycle in which most dreams occur. Why, then, all those frequent and vivid dream memories?
It's probably at least in part because you may be interrupting a dream-filled cycle when you wake up to pee, cope with heartburn, leg cramps, restless legs, or a backache, or to shift to a more comfortable position. Waking up during REM sleep makes you more likely to remember your dreams.
It may also be in part that dreams seem so vivid during pregnancy because for most women pregnancy is a time of such heightened emotions — from joy to apprehension and everything in between — but no one really knows for sure.
Here's a look at some common themes and what they may mean, according to Patricia Garfield, a clinical psychologist and author of Women's Bodies, Women's Dreams.
You're caring for baby animals. During the second trimester, many pregnant women dream about cuddly, baby-like animals, such as puppies, chicks, and kittens. Friendly creatures in your dreams are generally thought to signify that you're tuned in to your instincts. Menacing animals, on the other hand, may represent ambivalence about the strange new creature entering your life.
You have a sexy encounter with an old flame. Many mothers-to-be are concerned about their changing figure and its effect on their sex life — while many others feel more sexually charged than ever. Both feelings are often reflected in your dreams. Not only do erotic dreams offer comforting reassurance, but they may mirror the sexiness you feel during your waking hours, too.
Your mate is straying. If you dream that your partner hooks up with an ex-girlfriend or a total stranger, it can signal insecurity about holding his love and attention through a time of great change. Right now, you're dependent on the goodwill and support of those around you, especially your partner. Fearing his loss is a common emotional reaction to being pregnant.
last time I had constant dreams that I was having a boy. (was a girl.)
I also had a dream I gave birth to a rooster with no feathers.
This time I dreamed I gave birth to a rat. (we have pet rats. haha)

I know I have dreams but I can't ever remember them! The only one I can remember was this morning actually, we were coming home from vacation and I remember being so upset because it was over, and then I realized that I was just dreaming... but while I was still dreaming lol! How weird is that?
