What are some of your tot's favorite activities? He is really into trains right now (hence the Halloween costume idea below), building with blocks, figuring out how to climb the bigger structures at playground (which makes me a little nervous to watch :p), loves books with lift flaps and movable parts

What things about your tot are you really enjoying right now? Getting some extra snuggling time in the rocking chair before bedtime especially with 2nd baby due in Feb I'm trying to enjoy my alone time with DS :); having DS help me with little chores & clean up around the house and yard (bonus if he was the source of the mess); watching him explore & try to figure out things

What things about your tot do you find challenging right now? When he throws a crying fit and we cannot figure out why he is upset and he is inconsolable for several minutes; the same exploratory nature that I love also means he wants to get into everything within his reach and puts himself in risky situations; he can be rough with some his favorite books even the paperboard ones so I'm having to do a lot of tape and glue repair jobs

Do you have any fun fall activities planned? We like to go to a local farm with animals and tractor rides and pick out a pumpkin from their patch; would like to get in a few fall hikes before weather gets too cold; I like this time of year because it means more homemade soups and baking for me Smile

Do you have a Halloween costume already or any ideas in mind? I want to make a Thomas the Tank Engine costume for DS, trying to get some ideas for construction from internet

Anything else you want to share? Looking forward to finding out on Oct 15 if we will be adding a girl or another boy to our family - not really hoping for one over the other

What are some of your tot's favorite activities? Running around outside - preferably running down other people's driveways and into their yards so that I have to run after him. Playing with Playdo - he LOVES it! Reading books still. And he really likes trying to do things we do - brushing his teeth, putting garbage into the bin, "folding" laundry..., it's cute! And he's really into all the nursery rhymes and acting them out (e.g., little teapot).

I'm loving how well he can communicate now. He says yes and no often, not always in the right context (e.g. Do you want more milk? "No". I put the milk away. Cue tantrum.
But in general I just love seeing how that little personality is coming out and him talking and telling us things. We have little conversations and it's awesome!
He loves to sing and is doing a really great job singing some of his favorite songs. He gets a good part of the words right even though he only says very few two word sentences and cannot string 3 words together yet. Sometimes he inserts random words into the songs like mama and daddy. It is adorable!

What things about your tot do you find challenging right now?
He's on a real daddy-trip these days. Meaning I don't get nearly as much love as I used to! Sad And while I like that he is becoming independent I realize he is outgrowing some of our little rituals I cherish - he now doesn't always want to be held while I sing his lullaby before bed, sometimes asks me to put him in his bed before I'm even done singing the song!!! Breaks my heart a little.

And the tantrums. Not loving those. I have yet to find an effective way of discipline. If I tell him no he just grins and goes straight back to what he was doing.... so far time outs and stern words are not working too well.

Also, he's really into throwing things including his food and I'm not liking it.

Do you have any fun fall activities planned? We will hopefully go to a farm and pick out a pumpkin.

Do you have a Halloween costume already or any ideas in mind? I got one from Carter's at costco - the crocodile. Now I'm thinking of returning it and dressing him up like a Cowboy.

Anything else you want to share? I want to get him potty trained and into a toddler bed before baby#2 arrives in March. Also, I think Christmas this year is going to be totally awesome because he will "get" it a little better than last year.

I'm looking forward to this as well since the first year we were dazed and sleep deprived new parents and the second year DS enjoyed playing in boxes and with wrapping paper but didn't really participate much. I'm hoping this year he will help make cookies, decorate tree, etc. I get excited just thinking about it Smile

I'm going to do this one of these days when I manage to get on from the computer instead of my phone!

What are some of your tot's favorite activities?
They're both pretty happy with just about any toy or play structure. My daughter especially loves going on the swings and reading books. She spends a lot of time sorting through her bottle parts and putting the straws in the holes and into the cups. She has a lot of therapies these days and her brother tags along to most, so they're both loving occupational therapy. Some of the ideal textures the feeding therapists work with are dried fruits and once even candy, which they've definitely never had at home, so that's extra exciting!

My daughter has a beautiful smile if you can catch it. The fleeting glimpses probably make it all the more special! My son is ridiculously sweet and I love watching him interact with everyone around him. He's using two-word sentences now, which opened up an amazing world of communication.

What things about your tot do you find challenging right now?
I'm weaning my son and that's hard for me. There's nothing about him that's a challenge, except indirectly, like I feel bad when I can't give him my attention because he has a twin with much greater needs. That's not new though. My daughter's behavior is a huge challenge and her needs put major strain on all of us and our relationships. We have therapists up the wazoo and I'm supposed to call the child psychiatrist but haven't done that yet. The hour-long screams several times a day are what kill me. Most recently, I've been struggling for ideas on how to eat, shower, and one day get some exercise.

Do you have any fun fall activities planned?
Yes! We went apple picking and to a pumpkin patch.

Do you have a Halloween costume already or any ideas in mind?
Nah, we might see if last year's costumes fit.

What are some of your tot's favorite activities? building with blocks, doing simple puzzles, playing outside

What things about your tot are you really enjoying right now? She is so talkative! It's so fun to communicate with her. Her personality has really come out!

What things about your tot do you find challenging right now?
She wants to do everything herself! "Vivi do it!"

Do you have any fun fall activities planned? Trick or Treating, a couple playdates

Do you have a Halloween costume already or any ideas in mind? Vivi's going to be a piece of candy corn. I bought a pillowcase dress on Etsy for her. I figured she can wear the dress this fall, next fall, and maybe the next fall more as a top with leggings. Biggrin

Anything else you want to share? Vivi is potty trained! It's amazing. So happy I can quit wasting all our money on diapers! She just sleeps in a diaper now!
