First appt

Was so long. I hate the first appt. Its so routine and you dont get to hear the baby yet or see it. Its like a long annual GYN appt. Lol and they sent me home with a huge goody bag.

Everything seems to be normal. I have a dating u/s next wednesday. and then they will schedule the first trimester screen around 11-13 weeks.

Doctor asked me if this is our last baby and it was really hard to say it is. Then he went into tube tying and stuff. I didnt realize that for vaginal births, they usually do the tubal while you're still in the hospital! They make an incision in the belly button area and do it there.

I dont know what our contraception choice will be after this baby. DH wants the big V and my tubes tied. Double protection. ROFL I might consider essure/assure where they put those things in your tubes and scar tissue builds up to block them.

I've got a lot of time to decide.

It seems crazy to be thinking of birth control already! Good thing you have some time to decide...that's a huge decision! I didn't realize that's how they tied tubes these days.

I hate that doctors ask about that... like we live in China and it's their job to make sure we don't have too many babies and overpopulate the earth! To me that's something that should be discussed at your six week postpartum checkup! Anyway, I'm glad that all went well at your appt. Mine is tomorrow (finally!), so I'll be posting and letting everyone know how it went! DH isn't coming, only because it's the routine appt where they'll do the pap and all that other boring/non baby stuff lol. I'm just hoping she'll use the doppler so that I can hear "her" little heartbeat! DH is definitely wanting to get the big "V" after this baby, and I figured that when I have the baby would be the best time, as we can't do anything for 6 weeks anyway!

yeah i thought it was a little strange he asked about that in the first appt but i did enjoy learning something new. He was a nice doctor in case i made him seem otherwise.

Glad the appointment went well even if it was extremely long and boring. Yay for a goody bag though!! So glad you're getting a dating ultrasound next week. My first appointment is Tuesday but I will only be 6 weeks so I seriously doubt they will bother to do an ultrasound that early.

I told my husband that if I can carry the babies and give birth to them then he could be the one responsible for preventing further pregnancies by getting a vasectomy. It's only fair! LOL He didn't like that idea at all. I tried to tell him it's just a little snip and it's over but for women it can mean a long recovery and it's a heck of alot more expensive!!

If i had mentioned BC on his part a few babies ago he would have said no way to the big V. But i think he's about had about enough kids. Lol

I am also planning on my DH getting the big V after this baby is born. By then I would have gone through 2 pregnancies, 2 labors, 2 births. The least he can do is get his "tubes" snipped. Although, I am going to sign a waiver and if I end up with a C-section (I hope not) I will have my tubes tied at the same time.

It is outpatient surgery for women to get their tubes tied but just an office procedure for men to get vasectomies.
