Hilary!

How are you holding up? Any signs that baby is coming? Is anyone else overdue? With all these babies coming, I am having trouble keeping track.

No baby! she is never coming outtttttt  hehe thanks for checking in Smile

I'm going crazy, basically. Lol. I have been using clary sage oil, drinking lemon verbena tea (with cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and honey...supposed to help), getting DH to press on acupressure points, tons of curb walking or stairs, bouncing on an exercise ball, talking to the baby and telling her it's okay to come out now, even DTD when I realllllllly don't want to at 40+4

I'm going to the midwife today and if she tells me I'm not effaced or dilated I am definitely going to have a good cry about it. Hopefully I'm far enough along to get a sweep. My doula goes out of town on Monday morning so I NEED this baby to get a move on by Saturday. She seems sure it will happen but I think I will just be pregnant for the rest of my life ROFL

Oh hilary. I remember feeling exactly what you are going through. Every night I would go to sleep thinking tonight is the night, I can feel it. I would be so PISSED when I woke up the next morning still pregnant.

Has she dropped already? What signs have you had? Plug? What was your progress last appt? Is that when you regretted not asking to be checked?

**HUGS** I think I have myself so convinced that he will be here sooner rather than later that I will just freak out if he goes past his due date. I guess for me a due date puts a finality in your head so you kinda feel like that should be it. You get there and the baby should be out by then.

I tend to be a worst case scenario person, so I have myself convinced that I am going to go over my due date, but I'll still be really annoyed and panicky if we creep to close to Christmas!

Thanks everyone Smile

So, as for progress...haven't seen any sign of the plug and cramps have slowed a bit today. Last appointment I declined being checked, and I think I am glad I did now!! I got checked today and everything is very favourable apparently. Cervix is soft and stretchy but still has a bit to go so not entirely effaced. There was still enough of a harder part that she had to reach around it to do a membrane sweep  I'm only about a fingertip dilated, but she managed to get in there. It HURT!!! Even just checking it kinda hurt and caused a bit of bleeding. She sort of asked if I wanted to go ahead with the sweep while she was in there checking and I think I said "I dont know it hurts!!" through clenched teeth while gripping DH's hand ROFL I'm glad she did though, whatever it takes to get things moving. Baby's head is pretty low too.

Otherwise, things are fine. BP is good, baby's heart rate is good, and she's a good size, not too big or small. The only thing is that she's a little concerned about how nausous and sickish I've been feeling...bloodwork from last appointment ruled a lot of things out, but she's ordered another NST and an ultrasound for Friday to make sure things are okay. I hope I don't get that far!

That all sounds good Smile Now it's just a waiting game..... Do you have an induction date set if she's uber stubborn?

I can request a medical induction at 10 days overdue, but no sooner. If baby and I are both healthy, they won't intervene until 42 weeks, and even then it's still sort of our choice. But as much as I want to avoid induction, I doubt I could hold out that long!!

Yay for the sweep! Sorry it hurt. Don't let that discourage you in your hopes for a natural delivery. You can do it.

My sweep took exactly 24 hours to do something(at least I think that contributed to labor this time).

Good luck on your own & yep, induction is hard to resist after so long.

Hope your body makes some magic! Wink

Oh thank you for the encouragement!!! During the sweep I honestly thought to myself, "that's it, there's no way I will handle a baby coming out of here! I'm gonna need drugs!" and I was feeling sad about it. So thanks Smile and I'm glad to know there's still hope it did something. I was wondering how long the effects would last. I've just slept all afternoon since getting it done, no contractions at all.

Thanks, me too!!!!!! I just saw my doula and we went for a walk and she did lots of acupressure on my legs. I'm on the ball now having a lot of pain and pressure! Hoping it's the start of something! I'm thinking positively now, baby is going to come....

Could be starting something I think???

Yesterday I had some pretty good contractions in the morning, they tapered off in the afternoon and came back in the evening. I got huge waves of intense nausea and the shivers as well last night. Couldn't sleep, I was feeling really crampy. I took gravol and that knocked me out for five hours. I'm up again now with bad cramps and the occasional contraction. Considering calling the midwife in a couple hours to say maybeeee this is it??

If things get going I will keep you all posted via Facebook on my phone Smile but please don't put anything on my wall, I don't want anyone local to know I'm in labour and then show up to "help" lol

Well, nothing yet

I just went to try acupuncture for the first time in my life though!! WOW. It brought on five strong contractions, my biggest ones yet, and it completely changed how I am carrying the baby. I went in there carrying pretty high, walked out and she is so low now. Soooo...maybe tonight? How many more nights will I be saying that?? :o lol!

Not to be a downer, but I said it for 14 days overdue with my first. Ended in induction. I know exactly what you are feeling, but won't your doula be back in a few days?
