    Default hip pain....

My left hip is really hurting. I worked out a lot yesterday, so it could be from that. Any stretches or ideas what to do? It only feels better when I lay down and that is not an option!

when you say "hip pain" where do you mean? hip pain in your groin, or hip pain along the lateral (outside) of your hip?

Outside of my hip some might call it lower back pain but it seems to be more like the crest point of my hip bone. Also I find that it is relieved by standing on one foot with my knee pointed out on the side that hurts. However I cannot stand like this all day,

sounds like your hip flexors are tight! google it and you should find some exercises some of the hip flexors insert on the iliac crest, so it sounds like that might be the problem

It could be too that your hips are out of alignment! My bro-in-law is a PT and he gave me some exercises for when this happens to me and it really seems to help. You lay on the edge of a couch on your side, and keep you legs in a clam shape and open and close them about 5 times. Then lay on your back and put a small pillow in between your legs/knees and gently squeeze it another 5 times. Repeat on the other side. You can do this a couple of times a day... might help!

Probably some stretching would help too if it is a tight hip flexor like Carolyn said!

I don't have quite the same pain as you're describing, mine is more like sciatic pain. I did see a chiropractor in my 3rd trimester last pregnancy, and it made a HUGE difference! I highly recommend it. My pain is starting up already with this pregnancy so I will probably go see her again soon.

I have the same exact thing and have in my first pregnancy as well... it's not hip pain, it's your sciatic nerve. It hurts on the left hand side of your lower back/hip/upper leg area, right? It's just the baby putting pressure on that nerve that runs on the left side of your body and affects everything in that surrounding area! There really is nothing you can do about it, accept take Tylenol, or try bending over in a very hot shower and let the water beat down on the left side of your back. Try sleeping on your right side, as laying on your back will only make it worse.

I already do those exercises....maybe it is just sciatic. Krystal, does sound exactly the same, I was hoping to get closer to the end before it kicked in again! Oh, well, it is worth it for my little baby

If its your sciatic you could go to the chiropractor for an adjustment. I had to do that before and it was instant relief - however, it wasn't pg related so it may not be as effective.
