Thread: I registered yesterday!

Hey girls... so I know it's still a little early to talk baby showers, but I went down to Babies R Us and registered yesterday! I'm not even sure if I'm going to do a shower, but I at least wanted to be prepared for myself and get an idea of what I'm going to need for baby Trystan. My problem is that I either donated or let friends have ALL of my baby stuff, whether boy or girl, so I have NOTHING! Plus, since I'm a BTDT mom, there's a lot of things that I skipped on purpose because you really don't need them... so ther's only about 50 or so items on my registry. I wanted to have everything compiled together so that every week I can go in and grab something that I need off of the registry... and if anything is left over I get a discount when baby arrives, or if I decide on a shower there's still stuff on there that girlfriends can buy! Anyway, it was so much fun, and I left DH at home because when I went last time he just looked bored lol! Anyone else know when they're going... or if or when you're having your shower?

I did the same thing on Amazon. Its set to private but its just so I can add things I want and when it comes time I can "complete my registry" for 10% off.

I know I am having 2 showers. My mom is throwing one and my MIL is throwing the other. They will be the last weekend of Oct and the first weekend of Nov.

I was thinking about having a Halloween themed shower! I thought it would b a lot of fun! My mom always throws mine, and she said she'd be happy to do it again, but I'm just not sure yet. I don't want to do the traditional shower with the games and all of that. I'm thinking that I'd just like to do a brunch at a restaraunt or something. Basically just get together, eat, have cake, act like grown ups (lol!), and if people bring gifts, I can just load them in my truck and open them up in the privacy of my own home... and not have to force the fake "oohs and ahhhs" on stuff that you're annoyed that you got because it wasn't on your registry lol!

I am thinking about just doing a diaper/wipes shower. Our immediate families are going to buy clothes and such anyways. It would be nice to get diapers/wipes because those come in more handy than clothes IMO. With my daughter we didn't buy diapers until she was 3 months old because we got so many boxes of them. I think the diapers help more than anything.

I was bored last night and registered for a few things on-line at babies r us. Not sure yet as for showers what will be going on yet. My friends at work want to put one on, one of them is super excited to plan one.

I have been working on a registry for awhile now, just adding things here and there and changing my mind a million times. I'm sure my mom will plan my shower, and while I do love surprises, I think I would like to have a say in who's invited and what we do there. I didn't realize so many people were involved in planning their own showers. I always thought someone planned it for you.

I registered last Friday, right after we found out we were having a girl.

I registered at Target and Babies R Us....my best friend went with me to help; she had a baby last year so she gave me some good ideas on what I might need or like.
I'm having 3 showers.....one at school, one in my hometown, and one given by my best friend and some family. The one given by my friend will be my main shower and will be Halloween themed. I think it is going to be so cute!

Like y'all, I picked some things that I knew I probably wouldn't get as gifts, but that I could buy myself with the discount later on.

Since this is a second baby I will probably just have something small at work. That is what they traditionally do and is always a nice gesture. Not to mention the company gives a $100 gift card to a place of your choice!

My mom asked if I wanted a baby shower but because it will be right around when the holidays are going to gear up, I suggested maybe a diaper/wipe "sip and see" type thing where maybe a month after baby is born we have a little get together so everyone can meet the baby.

Jenn- thanks for the idea about an amazon registry! I'll do that today probably.

Also, I'll do a BRU registry after we find out the sex. It's more for getting MYSELF organized for what I will need!

That is so nice of your work to give you a $100 gift card. There's a few people at work who have mentioned doing a baby shower for me here but I don't know. I do hate that it's around the holidays (it was the same for my daughter) because I know everyone is busy and money is tight. We had my daughters on November 11th in order to avoid the holiday rush.

My work usually has a diaper and wipe shower for BTDT moms. Its at lunch and everyone just meets with their lunch, gives the mom-to-be diapers and then we have cake. Wonder if I will get one.
