So here I am starting to go through some of my DS's old clothes (ahhh, sweet memories), and deciding what to exchange with a friend (for a jumperoo and a crib mattress), what to trade in for store credit and what to keep for the new baby. I mean, obviously some things are pretty gender neutral so those should work for either, right? And even some blue-ish PJ's would work too (as long as they don't say tough guy, right?! haha) since she will just be sleeping in those.
What would you say is ok to keep and not? Like I LOVE this cute little grey sweater jacket that has skulls and such on it... seems like a girl could wear that? No? Am I disillusioned about what I will really put my little girl in?
I am keeping a lot of DS' sleepers and gowns - I don't care if this LO wears blue and green and trucks and balls at home.
I recently went through 7 totes of DS' clothes and picked out my favorite outfits. I will keep those 2 totes and sell the rest or give it away.
As far as blankets, towels, wash clothes, etc - all of it will be reused.
Yea, I'm keeping the blue high-chair, the boy-ish modular etc. Not worried about that stuff. And def sleeper or onsies, as long as they don't say tough guy or something like that. What about stuff they would wear outside of the house? Like a lime green jacket with a camo hoodie?! haha And the gray sweater jacket with the black skulls? I kind of like those things, and I think I could couple them with something girly... ? Just don't want to keep a bunch of crap I won't use. We are hoping to put our house on the market soon and I need to declutter and downsize something fierce.
This is just me, but I NEVER put my daughter in anything that doesn't scream girl! After having two boys (and especially now that I'm having another boy!) I couldn't wait to buy everything pink, frilly, girlie, dressy! I think I only bought her two pair of jeans since birth, and then only because we were going up to Idaho to visit family during November and it's deathly cold there, so she had to have something covering her legs! She's just too beautiful for blues, greens, greys, or anything that she can't twirl in lol!

Krystal my daughter was such the opposite when she was an infant to about 3 years old. If you put her in a dress she would throw the most terrible fit you've ever seen. Before she could really talk she would just repeat "Off, off" as she tried to get the dresses off her body. It was only until this summer that she really got into the little sundresses and then she wanted to wear nothing else! Unless she is fishing with daddy and then she wants her jeans, boots, and her camo fishing hat!
I started doing the same last night. I put the nice outfits, name brand things in bins to bring to Once Upon A Child. The cute, but not top quality things I have in a HUGE mess figuring I'll give those to friends who have boys (there's 1 in particular that most of it will go to I think). We had a ton of clothes given to us by my aunt and uncle, so it seems like the right thing to do to pass most of it on to somebody else. I am saving a few things - the outfit he wore for his hospital pics, his coming home outfit, sleepers and gender neutral onesies of course we can reuse, his baptism outfit. I really don't think I'll save much. I'm itching to go buy everything GIRLY!
I would love to save everything, but quite frankly, these bins upon bins of clothes are overtaking our house. I know that by the time we ever (if ever) have another boy for them to wear...given that the seasons even match up...they're going to be way "outdated" and I'll probably want the new things that are in. I don't mind buying gently used clothes, and love to find good deals on new clothes.
I'm not much of a skull person, but that could be cute if it's grey and white - maybe pair it with some pink?
