L&D trip today...

So after my appt today I went over to the hospital to sign my admissions paperwork for the big day. They used to have admissions downstairs, but now there moved it up to the l&D floor if you're a maternal patient. I really didn't want to go up there, but what could I do? So up i go and sure enough here comes the screams through the walls of some poor woman pushing her baby out!! Ugghh why did I get myself into this again lol?!?! I mean, I've been through all this of course, but it really hits home seeing this floor again, the beds, the nurses, and of course hearing the screams... God help us all lol...

I think to myself several times a day "WTH am I doing?"

That poor woman. I never heard anyone else each time I delivered. I wonder if anyone heard me the last time. I was pretty loud for those 5 minutes. Mostly curses though. Lol

Lol!! I know for a fact everyone heard me with my first, as it was like someone was ripping me open with a flaming hot sword (sorry for you FTMs!!)!!! After he was born my MIL said that she could hear me screaming all the way down the hall and through closed doors!! That's what this woman was like... its kind of making me think twice about this whole natural childbirth thing I want to try lol!!

When I delivered Nicholas, I heard a woman go through natural childbirth around 2pm (I got pitocin around 3am that morning, was about 4-5cm when I was hearing this but I had an epidural by then). She screamed so loud and then I heard the dr. announce "It's a boy" I broke down and cried to DH that it should be me there and why was it taking so long LOL. You would think they would make sound proof walls in L&D especially!

WOW! I heard nothing at our hospilat the whole time I was there with DD! They had just redone it, and the delivery rooms were at one end, with lots of soundproffing, I am told!

I never heard anyone giving birth either. I think I'd have passed out more than likely. I had to go to L&D to receive my Rhogam shot last week. Didn't hear anyone then either, thank goodness. I know I cried during contractions before I receiving my epidural but after the epidural I was good to go.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: Amen! LOL

I was the one screaming like a mad woman...but in my defense, I was in hour 52 and my epi didn't work in one tiny spot...but a very tender spot. Basically it felt like he was coming out of my butt instead of the right way.

I should reread my birth story and really decide if I want to try for natural again (I made it 37 hours last time) or get the epi right away or go straight for a csection. ROFL

Lol!! He was your first, right? I think the first is always the worst because it takes longer and your body has never gone through that before, so the pain is new to you and unexpected. That being said, the torture of my first birth is what made me get the epi for sure the second time around!!!

Yep - that was my first birth. By the time he was out I was like "get him away, everyone leave the room, no one talk to me...I just need to rest!" ROFL!

Our hospital must have really good soundproofing. I've never heard anyone when I've been there and when Corinna was born they were having a little mini baby boom.

My husband says I screamed, but I don't remember it.

When we had the hospital tour, they told us that they ring a chime every time a baby is born to announce the birth. I guess that must be nice for the nurses in the hall, but you can't hear it in the L&D rooms for sure.

Now now ladies, you are scaring all the FTMs! Wink I never screamed during my birthing experience or heard others screaming. We went to the delivery ward with DS last weekend for the class and tour, and heard nothing either. Thank god!

It's cool. I figure I'll just start screaming a few weeks in advance anyway.

You could start practicing now Wink

Just Kidding. FWIW - I didn't get loud until it was time to push and I wasn't past a 9...the whole time before that wasn't as bad.

Yep same here. The pushing part is most intense but luckily it's the shortest phase.

Lmao!!! Sure, you can do what we all badmouth and opt for a c-section because you don't want your vag hurting!!! J/k... you'll be just fine, and remember, there's no screaming with drugs lol!
