I have no idea if this is the right part of the forum to put this in but I need to ask it somewhere. I'm getting into a bit of a panic!
I live in Quebec (Canada) and trying to find information about this specific question is difficult, even through my doctor. I work full time right now but I know I'm going to be needing to take time off soon (my work doesn't cover this -or anything really). Trouble being my partner can't cover the cost of everything and I'd need to sign up for some kind of government plan.
Does anybody know anything about this for my area?
I'm not sure if this is different in Quebec...but it's a federal thing so you should be covered. You should be entitled to 52 weeks of pregnancy/parental leave starting when you choose, and you should be paid 55% of your average wages for that time when you're off. Your doctor might not know much about it, but do you have a Service Canada office near you? They will be able to help you. I think it's handed through Employment Insurance. Sorry of it might be different in Quebec, I'm not really sure if it's all the same over there. Hope that helps...
