On my nerve(s)..Literally...and suggestions?

So, one of the "joys" I had forgotten with my last pregnancy, was that the baby seems to "pluck" my saitic nerve. I am always uncomfortable in an upright position (which I kind of can't avoid, LOL!), and the pain shoots sporadically. I have tried hot compresses, massagers, showers, my 'butt' shoes with the foamy soles, etc.. but it comes back almost immediately. Oy Vey! Plucking my nerves already!

Any suggestions of relief? Or do I just have to wait it out?

Oh no! I'm sorry. Sitting makes it worse for me, so lie down when you need to but otherwise keep moving (walking, swimming).

I had it so bad with my ds. I was miserable! I had to just wait it out. I hope you find some relief.

With DS it was so bad I couldn't sit, stand or walk without pain. I ended up going to the chiropractor for relief. I hate that option because it takes multiple appts (and copays) but at least it worked.

I have that too. i have a herniated disc that touches my sciatic nerve and it is so magnified when I am pg. I just bought the pg body pillow and just lay on my side with that between my legs and its instantly gone. It's a life saver.

I had this terribly with my first baby. My OB told me to just stand in the shower and make the water as hot as you can possibly stand it, bend all the way over, and let the hot water beat down on where it's hurting the most. I swear after a few days, the pain went completely away. Good luck!

(Lurker from Nov)

Carter gets on my nerve regularly (lol)...I get down on all fours for a few minutes, until the pain subsides. He changes positions and I feel some relief. I hope this helps you. Smile

I would definitely suggest the chiropractor. I had sciatic pain prior to being pregnant and it was gone after two visits. I've also had several pregnant friends who found relief with chiropractic to the point where they didn't need the pain meds the doctor had given them. I haven't been back to the chiropractor in a long time, but if I start to have back pain with my pregnancy, he is getting a call right away!

Ohhh, I'll try some of that! I did not know chiropractors worked on pg folks! Thanks ladies!
