Names....again!

Anyone else think they have a name only to have DH throw a wrench in it? Last night we talked for about two hours, going threw a book and online looking at names. It seemed like we had one. Then out of the blue he tells me the "only" name he LOVES is a name I REALLY cannot see my kid being named. So I asked him what #2 is.....he said the #2 is so so...UGH! Is there no compromise?

I'm sorry you guys are struggling to agree on a name. I don't know how we managed to agree on one so early, but I'm glad I don't have to worry about that at this point. I hope you come to a common ground soon. Who knows...maybe some name will just pop up out of the blue and you'll both love it and that will be that. Is that wishful thinking?

My DH is insistent on Adam for a boy and won't even consider a backup girls name(we've had her name for the last three boys). Argh! It's frustrating me. I really don't like the name Adam for my kids b/c we just know too many with that name first or last. And I just don't like it. he doesn't understand.

So I feel you on this.

That is exactly how my DH was about Penny. He liked other names but nothing was as good as that one for him. He was set on it. After me being brutally honest that I would not be using that name he eventually changed his mind. We both had to agree on the name.

Yeah, we're no closer in finding a boy's name. The very first name I wanted to use is now out of the question in my mind because I don't like the way my boyfriend pronounces it and I think it's becoming more popular. He liked it at first, then it was off the list, and now he's completely set on it and I don't want it! BAH. We'll have to figure this all out eventually, I guess. It's annoying to even bring it up though.

Yea, I hear ya. We have about 4 on a list right now. The one I really like I'm not sure he will agree on it as a final name. I had to catch myself the other day as I almost referred to her by that name! I think we are going to try Jenn's rating system and see where we end up. Frustrating to no end! AND we are nowhere near where we were when we first started making lists of names we liked...

We aren't closer either. I think we have given up for now.

I think that all of us that are having problems will see our lo's & just know what he/she is supposed to be named. I think we will all eventually be happy & look back at all of this & laugh. Well, er....hopefully. lol

Or that's just wishful thinking...LOL. Just kidding! I do hope you all come up with your names soon...I know all too well how frustrating it can be.

I've got a list & so far here are the names we can agree on:

Quincy
Ruby
Carson
Jessie
Mabel
Noelle

Middle names:

Mae
Boots
Olen (this is his, it's a family name)

I like all of those names! But especially Noelle!

I still like Carson but I also really like Mabel. The only people I have known named Mabel were crazy old in the '80s so there's no way she'll run into many other Mabels in class. Great name.

Thanks girls Smile Ed's favorites are Noelle & Mabel.

We both like them shortened too. Noe (no-eee) & Mae or Belle. I like Maebelle, but my cousin is having a little girl Oct 30th & they already have a "belle" name.

Ed is really getting into it w/ clothes & naming, etc. I am so happy he is starting to relax a little.

Noelle was one of my favorite girl names, but it's too close to Noah, my nephew's name, so I didn't really consider it for the baby.

Lesley I think Maebelle is really cute! Are you pronouncing Mabel the same as Maebelle?

You know what's funny? My sister named her last son Daniel and DH wants to use it for a first name. I said "no way! " would it be strange to name your son after your nephew already has that name? We live far and don't see each other very often but we talk a lot. We had it on the list for eli's middle name but while inthe hospital we decided not to use it.

I bet we won't have a name picked out until baby is here. We have set a trend. Lol

Me too. I read a blog called "dig this chick" and the blogger's daughters are named Margot and Ruby. Margot was a top contender for me. Love both names.

Thanks. No, Mabel would be like it looks & Maebelle would have more of a "bell" sound at the end.

We loved Ruby in the beginning, but b/c there is already a Violet we didn't know b/c they are both colors. We also liked Hazel, but same thing....colors. I also like Lily, but it's a flower.

Violet is a tricky one b/c it's a color AND a flower.

We are coming to terms w/ it & it doesn't seem to bother us as much now that we are becoming desperate. lol

Lol! Not with this baby... he picked the name! I know it sounds horrible, but when I found out this baby was another boy, I really didn't care what we named him. I had my heart set on a girl since the positive pregnancy test. I've grown to love the name now (well, his first name at least lol), and I have never thought of changing it, and I know DH won't, so Trystan Magnus is what he'll be!
