Nothin' but junk

I am having some nutritional issues. I really can't eat anything but junk. I'm hungry 24/7 but as soon as I eat anything that is more than 5 bites worth I get really sick and icky feeling. I have tried to eat foods that I might feel are like junk, pizza, chinese, all of those type things... And I still just eat 1/3 of what's on my plate and want to never eat again. It is soo strange. I hate the thought of any meaty meals. And I love meat. IDK what to do to get this appetite in line. I ate ALL the time with DS #1 and I gained 65lbs. So I'm definately glad I'm not doing that again, but at least want to give this baby some nutrition!!

do you like scrambled eggs? or oatmeal? i like scrambling two eggs, and maybe a little cheese or ham, and putting it on those 100 calorie sandwich thins.

one of my favorite things is Special K with Strawberries, and putting frozen blueberries on top.

soup is good with garlic bread. string cheese with pretzels is good too. these couple of things are the bulk of my diet right now. easy to make, easy to get down, and healthy.

i have a hard time with meaty meals too! good luck.

haha I think I just shot down every suggestion in my head as I was reading this.
Eggs make me gag pg or not. Just worse when pg. Garlic makes me so nauseous it's outrageous because I love garlic. And cereal makes me get an icky feeling in my tummy too. It's like when I think of food, nothing makes me feel hungry. I feel like I'm making that "eek" face to everything. My poor DH hates meal times when he tries to suggest stuff to me..

I have the same issue. I'm eating junk food instead of decent, healthy food. But the thought of most foods right now make me sick.

Hopefully the next trimester will change our appetites!

What about smoothies? If you get a nice fruit one with yogurt in it that is pretty healthy.

I'm having a hard time eating dinner. I take a few bites and then feel horrible, even if it tastes good to me at first. The same way with breakfast. Lunch seems to be ok with me so I try to bring lots of healthy foods for lunch to get my nutrition in. Maybe try to find a certain time of the day that you can eat better? Good luck!

Lucikly, this too shall pass.... Smile

I've been getting a smoothie literally almost every night. I bring my Grandma to work at a restaraunt and her payment for my ride is a free smoothie. It's my favorite thing right now haha!

I am the same way. For weeks it was frozen lasagna, frozen pizza, or take out every night. Breakfast was white toast or a bagel with yogurt which I guess is okay, but lunch was peanut butter sandwich on white, fruit cups, and string cheese. Not much nutrition anywhere! Lately I've been getting back into fruit at least. I still feel bad about it my poor eating. I'm going to try and cook tonight, but I am also having the same aversion to meat so....we will see.

I feel sick no matter what it is. My biggest craving right now is fruit and salads. I also want tortilla soup every chance I get. But junk is the easiest access and needs less food prep (aka looking at it for a long time before eating it).

I am in the exact same boat. I am just praying that my appetite will come back after my first trimester is over. I am cooking chicken for dinner right now because I told DH this morning that I couldn't bear the thought of beef or pork at this point, but now that I can smell it cooking, I don't want it anymore. It's really frustrating.

Don't worry about it. I know you want to eat healthy, and I'm sure it will be easier to do that once you pass the first tri, but as long as you are taking your prenatals the baby is getting what it needs. Don't beat yourself up about it. The first tri is heck on us, food-wise. I am eating whatever gets me through. ((hugs))

Hahhaa, me too!
Everything has seemed so counterintuitive to me so far. Like, right after I puke, a glass of milk feels SO GOOD and that just seems SO WRONG. So last night, I thought of the most horrifyingly not-good-for-upset-stomach foods and gave it a shot. A tall glass of milk with an egg salad sandwich. And I kept it down!!
