Prelude: So growing up we always had INSANELY LARGE Christmases (granted we are a large family, but the amout of gifts was nuts, my mom has a shopping problem!) So I am used to very large Christmases that take all day to open presents. It is real pandimonium! Last year Christmas was so big, it overwhelmed our DD. So I am trying to cut back this year, but am afraid of cutting back too much. I have no idea what a "normal" Christmas looks like!
So I was going through the Christmas stash I already have for the (then) two girls. DD3 and the new LO who will be about 3 weeks. We do the Santa thing, so both girls will get Santa presents, plus the stuff we buy for them. It seems like we don't have very much for them. DD3 is getting a Leap pad from Santa, DD3w will be getting a floor activity gym thing. Both girls are getting an electric train from the big guy,and other small assorted toys and passies in their stockings.
DD3 will also be getting two small My Little Pony Sets, A Tinkerbell playset, and a dora softball glove and ball from DH and I. There is not a "wow" gift from us, does that matter? (I mean we eventually get the credit for Santa anyway, right?)
DD3w will be getting a "baby Seahorse" from her Sister,a light up ball/ toy thing, a soft dolly, but not much else from us. Is that enough for her? I don't want her to look at the pictures ten years from now and think she was gyped. (Besides, we have all of DD3's stuff, which I can't very well wrap up for the baby!)
Does that sound like enough? What do normal Christmases look like?
Also, are you getiing the new LO toys to "grow into", since thier birthday is basically a year away?
I am totally over thinking this, aren't I?
