Deacon pooped with every diaper. Sometimes he even pooped and didn't pee.

Luke went three days with no poop. I called the pedi and she said it was fine. BF babies can go days without pooping. As long as the baby doesn't seem uncomfortable and his belly doesn't feel hard then don't worry about it.

Like others have said I know BF babies can go days w/o poop and no issue. I haven't personally had one of those babies though Wink Rory goes 5 or 6 times a day at least.....but he eats a lot too....

Evelyn is a pooping machine. She wasn't peeing much at first and that had me worried, but she's wetting her diapers pretty frequently now too. I can't keep up with the poop though. She poops while I am changing her and then poops in her clean diaper as soon as I put it on. Kinda glad I haven't started using cloth yet. LOL.

Jonah poops ALL the time! It's better now though. I was on so many laxatives after he was born that he was a pooping machine for a week!

Jamie and Allie had poop in every diaper too so I kind of panicked when Luke didn't go for a few days. lol. The pedi assured me it is normal in exclusively bf babies though. If the baby has formula at all then they may need a little help though.

Just beware, if baby doesn't go for a few days.. it will likely explode out of the diap when she does.

Lurker from April**

My friend just had her baby a month ago and is BFing, and she told me that LO only poops every 3 or 4 days, and that the hopsital said that it is normal for BF babies to do that.

Good luck with your new LO!!

I don't know. I would guess every baby is different. For a few weeks there wasn't a diaper that didn't have poop in it. Now on a rare occasion I might get just a pee diaper, but she poops almost every feeding/every diaper.

Nicholas would poop every single diaper. I did give Emily a little formula when my milk wasn't in yet, maybe 2oz total on Monday and Tues. I'll ask the pedi today at our well check. She has been farting a little so I think things are ok, her belly feels fine. I'm just waiting for the poop explosion LOL. She had about 7 pee diapers yesterday though and then already 2 today so I think she is getting enough milk.

Dr. said not to worry about the poop and it will come soon. He said that the hind milk is what gives the good poops so make sure she is getting not just the fore milk to fatten her up and also to make her poop. It's so hard though to keep her awake during nursing. She falls asleep at the boob so easy. We are supposed to keep her up for 5 min after nursing so she doesn't associate nursing with sleeping.

Elaina poops soooo much. She will usually go again directly after a change too. And she pees a lot too. I am still taking one colace pill a day though, and I hesitate to stop because I am taking a ton of iron supplements.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding ( I just finished it so I am quoting it a lot, lol) says that in this case you should/could nurse on the same side two sides in a row. Like if baby eats for 20 minutes but falls asleep and then is hungry again soon, just let her eat on that same side again. If it hasn't been too long then she will get hind milk. It also said that other ways to tell if the baby isn't getting enough hind milk is that when she does poop it will likely be more green then yellow and frothy.

Good luck keeping her up for 5 minutes after nursing. It is very comforting at the breast and totally natural for them to fall asleep nursing. I don't think I could keep Lucas awake that way lol.

Keep them awake after feeding? Trystan wouldn't wake up after eating if a freight train came through my bedroom lol!! It's all I can do to make sure he finishes eating! I have to pull my nipple out of his mouth a teeny bit to get him to start sucking again, and I dthis for a good 10 minutes on each side!

Yeah the whole awake after feeding thing isn't happening here. We are going to try and associate swaddling with sleep right now instead. Oh and we had poop success! Last night (it was a rough night) and then again this afternoon. I am still expecting more but at least things are moving down there. This girl farts a ton though and they STINK!!!!

Ryan is a pooping machine as well. Once he starts to wake up a little I always change his diaper first to get him more alert to eating. He has almost always pooped and peed. That kid can saturate a diaper too. I swear I don't remember Brynna peeing that much! Sometimes he will poop more as I'm changing the diaper and other times he will poop as I am switching him to the other breast. He is going to kill us with diapers!
