Registry Cheating

Does anyone else "cheat" by looking at their registry before a baby shower to see what you are going to get? I just can't help but check mine out more and more as we get closer to next week. It will still be a surprise as to who bought what, right?

I have been doing this...I know, shameful right? LOL. Actually, not many things have been purchased and I can't help but wonder what in the world people are going to get for me. I've discovered that the worst is amazon registry. It has a "thank you card" feature, so you can just click on that and it will tell you exactly who bought you which items.

Carrie- I got a lot of blankets and clothes from people that didn't have children with my baby showers with Nicholas. The good thing is that you can return pretty much anything and get the stuff you need. For things I couldn't return, I just saved them and re-gifted throughout the next few years.

Seriously, amazon is a tell all! I've looked at mine a bit and I add/remove things all the time. No one besides my mom and niece have used it. It's more of a guide this time I think. I'm mainly using it to get the completion discount next month.

I use mine for items that I know can't be found at places like Target or Walmart...mostly the cloth diapering stuff...and also so that I will have a list of things I will need if nobody else buys them. I didn't know anything about a completion discount. Does that apply after your due date?

Haha, I look at mine ALL the time! I did the same thing when I was getting married....I am just really impatient, lol. I also added some things, like my breast pump, that I know people won't buy me, but I can use the 10% discount on after the baby is born if I want to.

Oh I looked all the time. Only 9 items were purchased off of it though, by two people! However two other people bought items from Babies R Us but not off my registry - we didn't need any of it, but they included a gift receipt which was nice! I went in today to return those items and pick up a few final things. It actually worked out, because lots of the items I had on my registry ended up being website available only, and today I found even better versions of certain items (receiving blankets, swaddlers, play gym) at another store and they were on sale too! So I'm happy Smile

And I was totally guilty of doing the exact same thing before my bridal shower and the wedding haha...! That one I spent more time on though because we also got a completion discount. Babies R Us up here doesn't offer one.

for Luke's shower we didn't get a single thing off our registry. I appreciated all the clothes, but then we had to go buy everything ourselves. At least we got the 15%, or whatever it was, off everything left!

30 days before your due date you get a one time offer of 10% off your remaining items. However, they have to be filled by Amazon. So yesterday I went through and added stuff I still need and made sure it was from Amazon...so at the end of the month I can get it all with free shipping through Amazon Prime, no tax and 10% off. Yay!

I absolutely cheat! That's part of the fun! The part that sucks is when you keep checking back and no one has bought you anything off of your registry... you know, the stuff that you really need and spent hours walking through the store scanning stuff to compile, and everyone ends up buying you clothes that you don't need/absolutely hate!!! OK, maybe this is just my feelings on it lol...

I keep checking mine and the same 10 things have been bought. Come on....there is stuff on there I really need still. I think Santa will be very good to me this year. Smile

Yeah, I have a feeling I am going to be doing a lot of shopping after the shower is over. Sad

I know what you girls mean. It's like, I'll never understand people's mentality. We make these registries for a reason people! You even make it easy for them by putting the resigtry card with your name and the barcode on it, so all they have to do is show up, scan, and buy! But still, off they go to some store you would never shop at, pick out something you don't need, and expect to see a big dopey smile on your face as you open it up in front of them when really you're screaming inside, gritting your teeth, wondering why they're so stupid and how long it's going to take you to try and figure out where they got the dumb gift because THERE'S NO FREAKING GIFT RECEIPT!!!! ARRRGGHHHHHH!!!! *deep breaths* lol...
