RQOTD??

Anyone want to try doing this again to start conversation? I thought we could just take turns posting one. If you get on and there isn't one and you have one ask it. If we each do the same I think we should be able to manage one almost every day. At least for awhile. Thoughts?

QOTD = question of the day

Not sure about "R" part. My best guess is random.

To first post, sure let's give it a try.

Ok let's get started:

Do you still have your Christmas decorations up?

My answer: Some. We had to remove the tree because baby was eating the pine needles. We still have our mantle decorated though. Likely will leave it decorated till the end of January.

We put ours away on Sunday. Normally we put them away before New Years because we like to do it while DH is on break from work.

The R is random. Smile

Nope. We didn't have a lot since we were gone over christmas but I put the mantle and door decorations away this past weekend. Unless you count christmas cards. I still have christmas cards and pictures on display. Oh, and I still have paper snowflakes hanging from DS bday party but will probably leave those up until spring.

ETA: The epsom salt-beer window frost decorations held up well for couple weeks and looked pretty but when I went to remove it, it has been a pain in the you know what to remove completely. It has been a multi-step cleaning process and some of my windows still look a little smeared in spots. Not sure if I would do it again. Or maybe I would only do one or two windows instead of ten windows and two glass doors Blum 3

Folks can still answer the previous christmas decorations question, but I wanted to throw a question out there while it is still in my brain Smile

What trait/habit do you have that you hope your child will inherit or learn from you? And along with that, what one trait/habit of yours do you hope they don't develop?

I'm going to have to give this some thought b/c I can think of several for the latter question Wink

I hope DS will learn from me to be kind to people and animals. I really hope he doesn't develop my general anxiety that causes me to stress about things that are not a big deal or are out of my control.

I hope DS will inherit/learn from me to work hard to achieve what he wants. And to love the outdoors, nature and animals.

I hope he doesn't inherit my awful sleeping habits (insomnia) and tendency to obsess about the smallest things. I would also much prefer that he inherit his dad's mellow temper, patient and kindness (I'm a little bit of a hot head at times )

To answer the first questions, our decorations came down the day after Christmas.

As far as traits go, I am glad that Evelyn seems to be pretty mellow and laid back like me. DH has ADHD and I was worried that we might have a very busy child. At the same time, I am a huge worrier and she seems to be high anxiety like me. She's also cautious like me...not a risk taker...and I like that. I like that she examines things and practices before she tries something new. She's not one of those "fearless" kids, which I guess can be good and bad, a blessing and a curse.

What is the last movie you saw in the theater?

Mine was the last twilight movie. Would have seen something else but DH gave me the afternoon off and it was the best thing here that day. Plus I did see the others twilight movies. Smile

Gosh, I can't even remember the last movie I saw in the theater. DH says it was Total Recall. I think I must have blocked that one from my memory...or maybe I fell asleep...lol.

New question: If you could not work in your job or field, and pursuing additional education was not a hurdle (no worrying about the extra time/money to invest :)), what would be your desired job?

Hehe...I forgot there was a new released version of the movie. I first thought you meant you had not been to a movie since the 90's when the first Total Recall came out Smile

I have this romanticized idea about being a librarian surounded by books.

I'm going through a sort of mid-life crisis of sorts when it comes to my career. I don't really know what I want to do with myself. I'd love to just be a SAHM, but lately I've also been daydreaming about starting my own business of some kind. I've been through more schooling than I care to mention and I have no desire to go back to school. Lately I've been feeling like I need to create things!!!!

Do you mean craft type things or...? Is there anything you can make and try selling on ebay or etsy?

Yeah, crafty things. I really love photography. I've also dreamed about making my own cloth diapers or opening up a shop that sells cloth diapers, because there is nothing like that near where I live. I could never do the Etsy or Ebay thing because I work full time and there is not enough time in the day to actually make stuff. I have also been blogging for a few years and I would love to be able to make that profitable. The bottom line is that I am kind of a big scaredy-cat and not much of a risk taker. Plus, I am the main breadwinner right now, so I can't afford to quit my job and start something like this. I also have a hard time focusing on one thing. I get bored easily. :/

A cloth diaper shop would be great especially if there isn't anything like that in your area. Or maybe you could start by giving a class in your area about the ins and outs of getting started with cloth diapering, and since you do some sewing of cloth diapers and covers maybe you could do a class about that as well. Wouldn't be a huge time commitment in theory but you would still get to feed some your creative need for now.

Buried in this thread is my previous question of what your dream job would be if money/time investment were not an obstacle? I think some haven't responded yet Smile

Do you have a guilty pleasure tv show? You know, that show that you really don't like to admit to watching but can't help it because it pulls you in Smile

I just noticed all my smiley faces in my previous post...crazy!

So my guilty pleasure show is probably Project Runway. I'm not a very fashion forward person nor really care about clothes in general, but the process they go through to make the clothing and the runway show at the end with the critiquing draws me in for some strange reason. Though I just removed my Season Pass from Tivo after the last season of Project Runway All Stars ended, so we'll see how long that lasts. I managed to quit watching Real Housewives about a year ago by deleting my Season Passes and it worked Blum 3

My guilty pleasure show is probably Grey's Anatomy. I quit watching it after about 3 seasons because I got annoyed with where they were taking the story, but when I was pregnant I spent a lot of time on the couch and I decided to get caught up. Now I watch it every week.

Don't laugh.... the real housewives of OC. And I admit that I would watch the train wreck that is Honey Boo Boo if we got the channel it's on. However, we cancelled our cable and I just watch netflix so I don't watch any of those shows anymore because they're not on.

I won't laugh b/c I used to watch RHWOC and some of the other spin offs Wink I finally had to quit cold turkey. I'm proud to say I've been Real Housewives sober for about a year Smile Good for you for cancelling your cable. I really want to but DH won't let me.

Yeah it's good we cancelled cable. Those awful reality shows are my guilty pleasure. I forgot to add the Kardashians to the list.

We ended up saving a bunch of money because we got a good deal on high speed internet. The only thing I miss are the news (well, and those previously mentioned shows... Wink

I don't like it when someone finishes using a microwave and doesn't clear the time left (i.e, after they took it out early before time elapsed fully). Not only because I can't see the clock, but I don't notice sometimes that it's not cleared and jab away at buttons when nothing is changing. Not cleaning a microwave after making a mess is another one, but that probably annoys more people than the time thing (though you wouldn't know by looking at the insides of the microwaves in the break room at my work ).

Oh boy, I could write a book of pet peeves. The first one that comes to mind is that I hate it when people enter a store (like Walmart) and then stop as soon as they get through the entrance. Like they have no awareness that there are people behind them also trying to enter the store. Along the same lines, I just want to smack people who park their cart in the middle of an aisle while they browse. My DH hates going to the grocery store with me on Saturdays because I have a serious problem with rage when I come into contact with so many inconsiderate people. Sad
