Sick!

My sitter had a cold last week, and gave it to my DS. And now I'm so snotty today I'm afraid I'm getting it too! Ah, geez. Just what I needed when I'm in TOTAL crunch time at work (with potentially only 5 days left to get everything squared away) and so close to having a baby! Can you imagine trying to deliver a baby with a terrible cold! Boohoo. I'm so wallowing in self pity today. This sucks.

And my DH is on some crazy antibiotics and steroids and can't be around sick people as his immune system is compromised! Man. I guess this is how it always has to go...

Aww Jules, hopefully you are just getting a huge 1-2-3 punch & once it's all blown over you will have smooth sailing for a bit. Mountains & valleys.

Thanks ladies. You all are the best, really and truly! You help keep me sane when I feel like things are falling apart. I know a cold is such a minor issue to be whining and crying over, it's just terrible terrible timing and I'm so stressed! I am taking the sudafed even though it will probably make my BP rise, but I need to get some stuff done for work and then I feel like I can let go some. It's just my nature to be a total obsessive, compulsive control freak and I'm trying to learn to let go.

Small issue in the big scheme of things... trying to remember that.

My brothers & I have some terms we use when things get tough or overwhelming.....

One is "just crank it out.....like a sausage factory. Crank it!" ~ We usually use that to get each other through work, papers, etc... SO really doesn't matter....just push through & produce something.

The other is "Cakey" ~ meaning simple, like cake. No problem.

So you've got 5 STRESSFUL days left of work & an oncoming cold?!?! No problem! Just crank it out like a sausage factory!! Ahhh, cakey!

**HUGS** to you. I swear I always seem to get sick when I am stressed out because stress levels lower your immune system. Not to mention being pregnant. Colds are the worst. I hope you feel better soon and things finally start slowing down at work so you can relax and get ready for baby!

I have been sick as well for the past 2 wks.

This is what I heard & it makes it all seems worth it: As pregnant women our immunity levels actually drop b/c if they didn't our bodies would try to dispose of the embryos or fetus' b/c they would think of them as intruders.

Yes, my MW told me immune systems are low when you are pregnant too. Makes sense as does being stressed and lowering your immune system even more! I tried drinking lots of c-boost and emergen-c, and lots of hand washing, but alas, I couldn't avoid it. The timing it just terrible, but at least I can take some medications to help with symptoms, unlike my DS, who is also running a low-grade fever. He is watching a movie (taking him to the sitters this afternoon so I can do a call) while I work and chat with you ladies. haha.

Just finished a press release! So I'm being productive despite!

And my bosslady got back to me about my maternity leave plan. She said, and I quote:
Your attention to detail in this plan makes me want to weep with joy – thank you! My inattentiveness to the feedback you’ve requested on this awesome plan makes me want to barf. I am so very sorry that it’s taken me so long. Truthfully, I know you are so beyond dialed and organized that I think I attended to things that qualified as “fires” in prioritizing your needs, and I am so very sorry . I am on board with this, your time off, etc. All is good. Please offer commentary to my notes in highlighted areas in this and please know again just how much of an asset you are! Thank you so much

That helps too. Smile

I have a bit of a cold too! It sucks, eh? So not fun when we're pregnant!

But what a great response from your boss!! Smile Hopefully that eases some stress and you can rest up and feel better!! It sounds so simple but a good cup of tea with honey and milk always helps me feel a little nicer when I have a cold

I just have to say it again, you all are the best! I went from a not good place to a great place thanks to all your support and responses! Thanks so much. Smile

Lots yet to do, but this is at least going to let me move forward instead of spinning my wheels in the mud.

Jenn, you are too cute. Smile

And yes, Hilary, tea sounds great right now! I think I will do just that.

Oh, so sorry you are sick! My DH is also sick and just went to the doc today, got some steroids, antibiotics, codeine, etc. I am just keeping everything crossed and hoping and praying that I don't catch it!! I don't think that I could mentally handle to feel any worse than I already do.

What an awesome message from your boss. So glad that's all sorted out and I'm sure a huge weight off your shoulders.

Jules, I sure hope you're feeling much better today! DD woke up with a fever in the middle of the night and I felt so bad for her... but found myself hoping she didn't pass anything to me!
