I am giving Luke poly-vi-sol for this same reason. He was born early and didn't get the iron from me the last month. It is the nastiest smelling stuff. My pedi recommends giving it to him in the bathtub, that way if he spits it up, he doesn't get it on his clothes.

We got some baby food last night for Luke. I may try it today. We have been giving him cereal, but not consistently. I am kind of lazy about it right now. I think he is going to LOVE the food though.

Thanks for the tip - I gave it to him during tonight's bath.

Solids are going really well over here. Sorry you have a refuser. I gave Evelyn a spoon to play with and chew on for a few days. Then we just took it really slow. She only took a few bites the first few times I tried to feed her, now she's really got the hang of it. Maybe it's a texture thing. Are you making your own food or using store-bought?

I am going to start them on Monday (6 month mark). I am excited! Elaina tries to grab all our food anyway. The only tip I have for a refuser is just what I've read, no experience obviously, but always heard not to push it and just try again in a few weeks.

We haven't really tried yet just given big chuncks of banana and Ryan didn't like it. We will start purees in a few days. If he doesn't want them I will wait a few days and try again.

Ugh. We have one of those. She started out loving rice cereal! She'd open her mouth nice and wide. Now she seals her lips shut, turns her head. I have to sneak it in. And if I can get it in there, she does like it and will eat it fine. I've tried moving her highchair (maybe less distraction?), a different spoon. If I let her hold the spoon w/food on it sometimes she will bring it to her mouth herself...if the food doesn't fall off before then. Yesterday and today I've started feeding her when she would typically be due to nurse. She has been opening her mouth better then, and then I nurse her immediately after (and seems to be nursing just as well as usual). I'm hoping she'll just not be too fond of purees and love table food when the time comes.

It's going insanely well here. Luke LOVES solids. He just opens his mouth and holds it open between bites lol. The only thing he doesn't like is peas and green beans.

First day of solids yesterday: Went ok, but not fantastic. He opened his mouth at first but after 2 bites he didnt want to anymore. I think I got about a teaspoon in is mouth and about 1/4 of that down, the rest came back out. We tried sweet potato mixed with a little breastmilk. He had some pretty bad gas all night and two huge poops overnight, which is uncommon for him. We will see how it goes today. Oh and he also made a really disgusted face... not sure if it was the texture or the taste, or just the surprise of experiencing a new taste.

ETA: Today did not go well. He doesn't want it anymore Will try again in a few days. He also has diarrhea now.

Sorry for the rough start. I hope it goes easier the next time you try. I think you are smart to give a few days break.

I have been adding some probiotic (break open capsule of Culturelle) to bottle of cool milk to give to DS since I was on antibiotics again for mastitis recently. It says it helps with digestive health. I wonder if that could help while you're introducing new solids.

DS had some rice cereal the past few days and I just added sweet potato today. So far I haven't noticed any BM changes or other issues *knock on wood* He also takes some sips of water from a sippy cup for practice and to prevent constipation as recommended by our pedi. He didn't seem too keen on the rice cereal at first but would get very animated when he would see me eat my morning oatmeal. He also hated the sippy cup at first b/c he would get so frustrated with it but now sips with holding assist. I think I will try some ripe avocado after a few more sweet potato days.
