Soooo

How is everyone today? Krystal? Carolyn? Everyone???

Also what did your dr. do at your 37 week check? Just usual weight, BP??? Always seems like such a wast to wait all that time for that, couldn't a nurse do that?

I had a 34 week check and GBS today...does that count? It was lame and I left kind of annoyed. My OB sways back and forth on my ability to VBAC and today he wasn't too positive or confident so it really bugged me.

Yup, it counts and yes, I would be annoyed. What reasons does she have for saying yes? Saying no?

I just got back from my 37 week appointment. It was the same stuff, BP, urine sample, weight, measure the ol' belly, and listen for the heart.

I got my cervix checked. I was a 3/4 last time, now I'm a defintite 4. If this pregnancy has taught me anything its that dilation and effacement without active labor are not a good predictor of labor. She said he will probably come very fast when its time, and that I could go tonite or in 2 more weeks. He will get here when he's ready no matter how much he likes to lead me on! I've also been losing mucus like crazy and had lots of GI upset. I have so many signs, but no real labor!

Well the reasons I had a schedule C were for the following:

1. To avoid paying my deductible for 2011 and 2012 all at once. If I have her on 12/27 as planned he will release me by 12/31 to avoid that second deductible.

2. With my last labor I stalled at 9 cm and even while pushing I couldn't get him out. My OB thinks that is how my body works and it will happen again.

3. He and one other OB at the hospital are the only ones that will do VBACs. So the likelihood of me going into labor while they are there isn't huge. If I go into labor and they aren't I go straight for a csection.

So that's why he acts like it probably won't happen for me. However, at my last appt he was saying I could try and we can see how far I get and yadda yadda. He is just kind of wishy washy about it all. Drives me nuts!

Lame. I was finding a lot of these kinds of restrictions with twins delivered vaginally, too. Will you possibly induce to get the "right" OBs?

Mine is tomorrow. Weight, blood pressure, ultrasound with fluid and growth measurements, beg to not have a cervix check, then off to the hospital for an NST.

I have 4 more days!!!!

My sinus infection is still lingering....... but I feel better. Good thing too because now DH has a man cold, so much for resting this last week  He's asleep while I took DS to swimming, cleaned the kitchen, did laundry, got DS lunch and put dinner in the crock pot. After DS gets on the bus I have to go to my doc's office to get my updated disability note, go to kinkos to fax it to my HR rep, return something to one store and buy other items at another store. At this rate I'll be exhausted by 3pm!

And I have to keep checking this board to see who's gone into labor Biggrin

I will be starting the early labor process the day I turn 37 weeks. Aside from castor oil I am open to almost anything. He won't induce me at all so its up to me to do it myself.

Amy ~ WOW! 4 more days?!?!? yikes.... Good thing you guys are trying to get healthy now. Smile

Jenn ~ I think you should get to labor however you want! This wishy-washy crap is bs. I could see if he was anti-vbac the whole time, but to continuously be undecided....really? Is HE having the baby? Labor & deliveries are all so different, even different births for the same woman. I don't think he should determine how you labor....that's laziness on his part I think. He works for you girl!!

Carolyn ~ Yep, so far you, Krystal & Shelia are reminders to us all that your dilation doesn't really mean much unfortunately. Hang in there & good luck. I don't think you will go past due & that's awesome in itself. Biggrin

As for me, I'm just 34 wks. I have my next appt in a week & then it's on to weeklies. I won't even get a cervical check until 36wks. Ho-hum.....as it was ladies. =/ I feel like I'm in the land of forever.

Well I'm still annoyed that I completely MISSED my 37 week appointment due to an incompetent and rude receptionist  I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow though.

I'm a little freaked out because there seems to be a lotttt of action over the last five days and it's increased every day. I mentioned this in another post too but last night was full of contractions that felt "real"/huge BH/dreams about labour/exhaustion/pressure from baby's head/period-like cramps/running to the bathroom....haha TMI, sorry! Today I woke up with the BH and usually they don't kick in until later in the day. Hmm. Though if anyone else on this board is an indication, I probably will still end up overdue or something! Hope everyone else is feeling as well as possible...and Jenn, I'm sorry to hear your OB is being annoying. That kind of flip-flopping is really unfair to you!

Lesley - I told my mom today that I have to give consent for surgery....right? So depending on my mood the day I go into labor I may or may not consent Wink

Hilary - and I'm thinking that if we all follow the trend that has started then all of our babies will be here before the first weekend in Dec. Biggrin

Good for you Jenn!!

Hilary ~ Will they be able to evaluate & asses any changes tomorrow at your appt?
Good luck today. Even if your day isn't immediate it's good that your body is working. Smile

I had my first dream about my girl over the w/end. She was here already, in my arms & she was beautiful w/ a full head of dark hair. She was all bundled up & I was nursing her. It was amazing.

Aww Lesley that's awesome!

I am a contraction machine today. Some of them defintely feel... Different. I have had several that come from my back instead of just being my belly. Some of them I am even feeling through my inner thighs which is a strange sensation. I wish I knew what was going on!

C'mon Carolyn's body!! Geesh!

Isn't it crazy how little we really know about labor? How it starts, etc? I was watching a show that said "they" believe labor is triggered when the fetus' lungs release a specific hormone that suggests they are matured & ready to be born.

As humans we know so much about so much. Pregnancy & labor seems like something so petty to be so ignorant about. Kind of blows my mind.

Any other theories, etc out there?

Go hilary go!

Lesley, veni vidi vici (dont know her real name) posted this really cool link about the onset of labor and its like an orchestra of hormones between the mom and baby. It explained it really well about sometimes the baby is ready first, and sometimes the moms body is ready first but nothing will happen until the two are in agreement. I should go back and look for it!

That sounds really neat Carolyn. I love how in sync moms are w/ their babies & vice versa...even before the first touch.

I have an appointment tomorrow (36 weeks), along with an NST and I have no idea what they are planning to do to me. I have been in and out of the doctor's office so many times in the past few weeks that I can't keep track. I had an u/s today...AFI is measuring a bit lower than it had been, which makes me happy. Baby is weighing around 6 and 3/4 pounds, which also makes me happy. I was worried that she was going to be huge.

I have my 36 weeks checkup next week. For those who have had a GBS test (which is pretty much everyone at this point) did the doctor swab your bum as well? The doctor who I saw that delivered Brynna swabbed my vagina and bum for this exam. Totally wasn't expecting the bum part and nearly had a heart attack!

Yes that's normal Smile GBS lives in the colon. It can get into the vagina just becuae those parts are neighbors, but it is actually a gastero-intestinal resident.

Well, today I painfully got my kids ready for school, laid in bed from 9AM to 1PM when I had to get ready for work, and now I'm sitting here until 9PM when I will have to get up out of this chair and feel the stabbing pain in my vagina! That's why I laid in bed all day (thank God DD is fine playing by herself and is so wonderful!), because standing upright and/or walking hurts "down there" so bad I can't even describe. Plus, I've been losing a lot of my mucus plug today, and it's blood tinged. It's been coming out a little bit here and there over the past week, but it's been pretty clear. Today it was a lot and not clear, so I'm praying that means I've been dilating more. I finally have my appt tomorrow morning where I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm to a 5 so I can just be induced tomorrow! The thought of waiting until I'm "officially" 39 weeks (Friday or Saturday she had said) makes me want to cry! I don't want to be bed ridden for the next few days, especially with Thanksgiving and all of the cooking that needs to be done. I hate to feel like a whiner on here, but I'm just going through so much right now, and adding my back pain on top of it all... I'm ready to just hold my baby boy.

To answer the other question, I didn't have a 37 week appt... I had a 36 one, and there she did all the normal stuff... BP check, pee in a cup, weight (these first three a nurse does) listened to baby's HB, measured my belly, and did a cervical check (these three the OB does).

 WTH?! Absolutely no bum swabbing here! That in itself totally freaks me out. She would definitely have to buy me dinner first... LMAO... :brucelee:

Thanks Carolyn! I'm trying to hold tight (literally lol)... it's just so hard with three kids and school, homework, work... I'm so exhausted and cranky and whiney it's horrible! All I want to do is lay in bed all day and be fed, rubbed, and held by DH with no distractions until this baby wants to come out lol! Friday wouldn't be so bad, as thankfully tonight is my last day of work!

No! Thank God. You guys had me totally and completely freaked out at that part. Just the front bits. And even that was super uncomfortable -- but maybe because I was thinking the butt was next?

I know! I sort of looked at her holding the long q-tip thingy and was like...."okay, you want me to put this where?!" Ohhh the things we do in pregnancy! Haha! I almost would have preferred her to do it just so I know it was done properly, but oh well.

That's what mine did. I am not sure if this doctor will do the same or not.

And Hilary I can't believe they let you do your own. I can't even see down there to pee in the cup so there is no way I could swab it...lol

Ditto, I can barely reach down there. I attempted to "groom" myself down there last weekend and I had to use a hand held mirror, but I still couldn't get things the way I normally would.

They really should provide us with a bowl for those urine samples. Or maybe a funnel. What a mess peeing blind into that tiny cup!

Of the things that sit over the toilet - like in the hospital!

Grooming for some reason still is easy for me, even though I can't see a thing I'm doing. Hmmm, now that I think about it - no telling how things are looking down there. LOL
