spilling the news on Mother's Day - how?!

So I'd really like to tell my mom/parents on Mother's Day. I'll be about 10 weeks. My dh's parents both know already. My FIL is my boss at work and I haven't been working much, and my MIL watched our son while we went to my first appt so dh told her the reason. They know to keep quiet still.

Anyways. Anybody have some simple, creative ways to spill the news? Should I just put our son (he's 2.5) in his Big Brother shirt and show up at their house?

We're going to have them keep the news to themselves for a couple weeks. We'll probably tell the rest of the world after we hear the heartbeat at my 12 wk appt which is a few days before Memorial Weekend. We'll be seeing lots of family that weekend so it'd be a good time to tell them all in person - by putting our son in his Big Brother shirt and letting them figure it out.

I thought about breaking the news to our parents then but I will only be 7 weeks at that point. I think if we get an early ultrasound on Tuesday at my appointment then I will just slip it inside her Mother's Day card and break the news that way.

We still haven't told our kids yet so a big brother and big sister shirt won't work for us. We're keeping it quiet from them until we get a little further into the pregnancy. I've been debating that "big reveal" for so long.

I like the ultrasound picture in the card idea. Because of our past experiences I have been debating just leaving voicemails. LOL!

You could bring a welcome baby balloon to the event?!?!?

I plan on breaking the news on mother's day too and like Jessicah, I will be only 7 weeks along. We will be telling my parents "face to face" (via skype) - they live far away and will be visiting my grandparents that day, so this will be the only opportunity to see my grandparents' reaction. This is the first grandchild and great-grandchild on that side of the family so I want to see their reactions!! I know it's early but I just have to tell Biggrin I think we will just say that we have a special mother's day surprise. We won't tell anyone else yet - just parents and grandparents.

I have been debating paying for an ultrasound this week to make sure everything's ok before we tell, but I'm not even sure that we would see anything yet (I would be about 6.5 weeks at the ultrasound). I am worried this might just stress us out unnecessarily. Any thoughts on getting an ultrasound that early?

Good luck with telling your parents! It's so nice to be able to share on a day like Mother's day.

:lurk: I had my baby last December and we told my parents on Mother's Day of last year as well. It was the first grandchild for my side and we told my parents like this: I ordered a flower arrangement with 11 pink roses and 1 white rose and wrote on the card "11 pink roses from your baby and 1 white rose from ours. Happy Mother's Day!" It took her a minute to get it, but she loved it.

I've seen where people have a family photo and do something like this:

Cost of hiring a photographer: $ X
Buying an outfit for everyone: $ X
Realizing there are 2 children in this photo: Priceless

Good luck!!! That is so exciting to tell on Mother's day Smile

Today I went to Kohl's because I had some Kohl's cash to use up. I ended up getting a picture frame that said "Grandkids" I took a picture of DS holding the u/s picture. He's got a SUPER cheesy grin because he was yelling "CHEEEEEEEEEESE!!!!!" I'll have to post a picture when I get it put together.

Negative EPT

Did any of you get a negative EPT and then go to the doctor to get a positive HCG.

My husband and I have had tons of fertility problems in the past and we have a beautiful 14 month old son; however I am 9 days late and have taken 6 tests and all come back negative. Just curious of any of you that are due in December also just got a negative on their EPT.

Thanks. Kari
