Spotting....Scared

I just went to the bathroom and found some old (brown) blood in my underwear. My doctor isn't in today, so I can't really call anybody. It's just brown, not red, and I didn't even really see much on the TP when I wiped, but I'm scared. I haven't done anything that I can think of that might have irritated my cervix, no DTD, no exercise, no heavy lifting, nothing. I'm not really crampy, maybe just a little dull ache in my pelvic region. Should I be worried? or is this kind of thing pretty normal?

keep in mind, I have no experience or expertise in this, but if it were me, I would at least call the on-call doc at your OB clinic. They may want you to get checked out today just in case.
Praying for you today!

I would say if you don't have any cramping and it was a miniscule amount of brown blood then everything is probably okay. Most doctors will tell you that some spotting/even bleeding can be normal. I won't tell you not to be scared because I would be scared too. But hopefully some of the other ladies can give you some reassurance as well to make you at least feel a little better until you can get ahold of your doctor. **HUGS** and just try to take it easy, keep yourself hydrated.

Does your dr have a nurse in the office or after hours people? I would call to let them know. It's probably nothing since it's just a tiny bit.

I just went through the same thing and it turned out to be nothing. It's always best to call your OB just in case... but if you're really bleeding badly or the cramping/aching becomes too uncomfortable, I would just go to the ER... it's better to be safe than sorry, and unnecessary worrying is not good for baby!

Call and check but I think that chances are you are fine. Lots of women get brown spotting in the first trimester (myself included) and unless it's a regular thing or more than a toilet paper wipe it's not considered anything abnormal.

Oh no, how scary! I hope it was just nothing. I know that a lot of women have spotting during the first trimester and go on to have perfectly healthy babies. I know it's hard not to worry, but hang in there. Brown blood is a good sign.

Thanks for your reassurances everyone. I haven't seen any more spotting since earlier today, so I am just going to lay low for the weekend and take it easy. I called my sister (who is a nurse) and she contacted a doctor friend of hers who said it was probably nothing to worry about. If it keeps up or gets worse, I will call the doctor on Monday or head to the ER ASAP if I have to! Thanks again everyone!

I'm glad you haven't seen any more since! That is a great sign! Just drink lots of water and put your feet up.
