And there they are...

My first ever belly stretch marks. My DH discovered them last night when he was helping me get trimmed up down there... eh hem. I guess I am so vain I got out my compact and a flashlight and stared at them for a while. They aren't terrible yet, but I had a pretty depressing moment last night upon the discovery. :pissed: :BOO!:

How is everyone else holding up/out?

Oh, my butt is a whole different story. But I made it through the first without any on my belly... not so lucky this time around. Sad

Ohhhh ok, yeah me too. I have like 1-2 on my belly but they are so low I can't see them. My OB assured me at every appt I didn't have any and when I saw them I thought "LIAR!" LOL

Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm finding it DEVASTATING! I just got some starting a few days ago, too. I had a few little white squiggles creeping up the sides that I wasn't at all worried about, but now I have little dark marks (not lines) dotting my bikini line. My poor skin cannot handle this. I also can only see them with the help of a compact and flashlight, but they'll be on display once this belly goes away and they SUCK! Plus I just feel like that probably opened the flood gates for hideous lines across the entire belly or something awful. GAHHHHHHHHHHH. Sad

are you all moisturizing everyday???? Dry skin won't stretch Wink not that its a guarantee, but massaging and lotioning your skin AT LEAST once a day will help keep them at bay.

I got some with Luke around 38 weeks. Mederma stretch mark therapy worked wonders for me. It's expensive... like 30$ a bottle, but wow it works! I still have the marks I got with Luke, but you really really can't see them anymore due to how much they faded. I actually have before and after pics haha, but yeah it really does work.

I have none so far this pregnancy. I'm a moisturizing fiend. I really didn't do anything to prevent them last time which was dumb. I didn't start moisturizing until AFTER I had the marks. doh!

Yes, devastating Sheila!

I am moisturizing every day! I have the oil I put on after showers and the belly rub stuff I put on at bedtime. I am not as religious as I was my first time around, but I"m putting enough on that it should be helping. I will probably look at mederma when all is said and done.... Just hoping they don't get much worse than what they are!

I have 3 new ones on the top part of my tummy.. I have named them. Ugh, Crap and Damnit are not that bad and I've been slicking myself up a lot more now that its not 80% plus humidity.

Yep - I use lotion every day, but stretch marks are more genetic, right? I don't think there is any way around them if you are prone to them to begin with. Lucky us! LOL

My other 2 girls tore up my belly. I am just starting to get pink on top of the ones I already have. Sad My hips, boobs, thighs all blah....

And yes jenn, I have heard that genetics plays a large roll in who will get them & who won't. I don't think moisturizing is a bad idea though. I only do it in the morning, but think I will start doing it more now that it has cooled down a bit.

Grrr, now my belly itches. =/

I got them pretty early on my hips, towards my back. They look like big cat scratch marks Sad at first they were small and close together, but as I've grown they've gotten longer and farther apart...and now there are more filling in the gaps. Sigh...oh, and I don't even know what I'm going to look like when my milk comes in and start breastfeeding. I've got plenty of stretch marks up there too already (like overnight) and it's quite depressing Sad

So far so good over here, but I just keep waiting for them to pop up and I am looking more closely every day. My skin is naturally very hydrated. I NEVER wear lotion because it never sinks into my skin, just lays on top and makes me feel slimy all day. So, with my pregnancy, I have only been moisturizing in the morning after my shower. At the end of the day, it still feels moist and sticky from the oil that I use. Still, I keep thinking they are going to show up soon. Right now the skin at the top of my belly right under my bra line is extremely sore and irritated and no amount of lotion is helping. I really wish I could go braless all the time because I think that's what's rubbing the already stretched skin. Ugh.

So I hear the Mederma approval here. What are the rest of you using? I've been drowning in Bio Oil myself.

I am using 2 different products...I couldn't decide which one to try, so I bought them both...Pregnant Belly Salve from Motherlove and Natural Stretch Oil from Earth Mama Angel Baby.

For prevention I use a Palmer's oil with Vit. E and Collagen and Elastin. I am using their Organics Belly Rub with the same ingredients in the evening. It was the same ritual I did the first time around and avoided them! Not sure why they aren't working so well this time around. I think it is bc the stretch marks are so low, as is my belly, the good stuff gets rubbed off my pants and legs so quickly.

I will look into mederma once all is said and done to try to get them to fade. Sad

I use nothing. I have some marks from my first pregnancy on hips and boobs. I got two on my belly from Jacob and those got bugger from Ethan. I give up. They naturally fade to a silvery white anyway.

Only place I got stretch marks with Brynna was my boobs after my milk came in. My belly was unscathed. I am not so sure how the rest of this pregnancy will play out as I seem bigger to myself this time around. I guess time shall tell. My DH would be too afraid to say anything about them. It may be a good thing if I can't see them if they are there....lol

I've been lucky in the belly department. My boobs are covered in stretch marks since puberty, so I figured I would be prone to get more. I guess I paid my dues with the 5 million of them I got in my early teens.

LMAO I love your little whistling guy! I've been begging DH to help me out "down there" so that things don't get outta control and he won't do it! He says he's scared that he'll cut me and he loves "it" too much to hurt it!! I swear... I would shave his b*lls if he asked... why can't he return the favor?!?! As far as your stretch marks, consider yourself lucky (and BTW, I would kill DH if he ever mentioned mine, even if it was the first time that he was seeing them!!)... like Jenn said, I look like I've been mauled by a tiger, but on my belly not my hips! I guess it's just meant to be after 4 babies shacking up in there, that bikinis are nowhere in my future LMAO!

I had previous stretch marks form my dd and ds so havn't noticed any new ones yet.
With DD- I had two stretch marks- but after the section -they had to stretch me a lot to get her out I ended up with a bunch of stretch marks after- it was quite a shock. With Ds I got more , so waiting for even more this time- with all the weigh I have put on I am shocked I havn't seen any new ones appear! But who knows I am sure they will be there soon enough!

I have never really felt my belly was attractive, so stretch marks were just a little disappointing, no disaster.

Last time around someone posted a picture with the stretch marks they got underneath their belly and said their husband said it was like flames pointing to her crotch. I thought that was pretty funny, but I told my husband not to tell me if that happened to me.

Well, it pretty much did and it took a while before I realized it since I couldn't see them very easily.

This time around I am getting more... more on top of my belly for sure and probably more underneath too.

Oh well.

This thread got me all paranoid and I had DH examining my belly for stretch marks last night!

Haha, Krystal... tell your man he doesn't need to use a razor! I just have him using trimmers and even a short trim is better than being an amazon woman. I just can't stand it down there, and I was having pain when wiping (TMI I know) and now I'm not. It was just in the way.

I'm glad he told me though. Now I plan to really pay close attention to that area the rest of the time and try to really slather it on and lay down for a while so it soaks in and doesn't rub off on my legs. It's way down there so I can't really see it!

Hopefully I'll be able to keep them fairly minimal.

But I do have the tiger scratch look on my behind... from my last pregnancy. Sad I guess these are our battle scars and we should be proud! haha.

HAHA Carrie... for sure. I hear that!

I not only have the stretch marks from previous pregnancies, but my belly skin was also stretched out when I lost my 65lbs. I don't really mind the scars, I would prefer the skin to go back to how it was. Sad

And there you have it. As of today, my skin can no longer handle this. I can literally feel my skin ripping each time I flop to the other side. These are the real ones now -- straight lines across the belly.

Ugh, that hurts just to read that Shelia.

I can feel them when Ed puts his hands on my belly. It is so sensitive now.
My previous marks are going from faded to a sort of purplish-gray as they start to show up again. Grrr
