vitamin d?

Those of you who are nursing...are you giving your baby vitamin d? We didn't with our son, but now the ped wants us to with Vivian. I never put much thought into it because I just don't know much about it. I picked up whatever she called in (but I think it was just OTC) but haven't given it yet?? What are you all doing?

My pedi said we get enough sun here and not to really worry about it. So that is what I am doing. I tried the vitamins with my other two and could never get them to swallow it. Also it stains like crazy.

Yup we don't get much sun here so we are giving it. I bought D-Drops, which are colourless and you just put one drop on your nipple or the bottle nipple and baby sucks it right off. It's super easy that way.

Same thing as Elle. We don't get enough sun I don't think. We are giving it but I forget ALL the time which is bad. The d drops are great! Unfortunately I sent my DH out to pick some up after we used up our sample and he came back with something else that requires her to swallow a huge amount out of a dropper :/ she doesn't like it either!

Huh, I never knew that was a thing. I mean, I read it on the side of the formula tub, but didn't know people give it to bf babies. I can't imagine Los Angeles babes need supplement though like Joy said.

I'm sure you're allright in LA. Up here in Canada sun is a rarity at the moment and if it does show it's usually too cold to go out much, that's why doctors recommend the supplement here.

Yep, I give Trystan vitamin D drops (they actually smell really good, so he has no problem taking them!). I believe the exact name is D-Vi-Sol drops, and I think they're made by Enfamil. I buy them at Walmart.

Ugh I never remember. I should - upstate NY in the winter we're not out enough in the sun by any stretch but I always forget....

Ironically I think our FB group is to blame for our board slowing down... we talk about everything on there now lol!

We also use the same as Krystal and it requires a full dropperful. DH puts it in her bottle when he feeds her and we have no problems.

It wasn't brought up by my pedi. He did mention that they don't recommend vitamin(I guess multivitamin?) until 4-6 months. But in Canada and other northern reaches I see the need for it.
