Weight gain or lack thereof -I am so excited!

OK, so I just have to share! Please pardon my bragging!:)

With my first DD, I gained 80 pounds. (She is small, it was all fluid). I have been very anxious about weight gain this time around, and my doc has changed her stance on maternal weight gain and fusses if you gain too much (in a good way though, she is great!).

Well, after gainig 7 pounds last month  I gained NONE this month! Yay! AND, to put a cherry on top of that, I am only up 24 pounds the entire pregnancy!!!! I know I did nothing to prompt this (I had a very strict self emposed diet the first time around. This time...whatever, including Oreos!) , but I am just so proud of myself!

Awesome!

It's funny how it seems sometimes the mother has so little control over the weight gain. It must've been hard last time to have to carry the extra weight. And, even knowing that it was fluids and not your fault, I'm sure there's still the emotional aspect, too. Or maybe I'm just projecting... Wink

I'm glad you're feeling so good! Biggrin

Yay for you!! It's always good to feel like you have accomplished something. Glad you're feeling good about where your weight is. I think that makes a huge difference.

Yay! It feels so good to be on track right?

I think I may have gained 6-8 lbs in two weeks. Doc was about to say something when I accidentally Wink interrupted about how my BP was lower this time b/c I don't gave as much pain. Yay! So I'm not eating ice cream at night any more to see if that slows things in the gaining dept down.

Woah ... you're a better woman than me! Although technically I don't eat ice cream at night, just for breakfast.

I can definitely relate to feeling proud about lack of weight gain. I was always so worried that when I got pregnant I would blow up like a balloon and the weight would never come off, especially being pregnant for the first time at 34 years old. So far I have only gained about 10 pounds, but now I am starting to worry that it's not enough. People are constantly telling me how small I am and it's starting to make me worry. Isn't it funny how people have a way of making you feel guilty and paranoid during pregnancy, no matter what you do?!

Congrats on maintaining a healthy weight and thank goodness you aren't dealing with all that water weight again.

Congrats on your weight gain! The fluid makes a huge difference.

Carrie- I am getting a little concerned about my weight gain too. As of today I am only up 1 lb total for the pregnancy. I wonder if GD has a role in this????

That's great that you are doings well this pregnancy! And about 7 lbs in a month...I've gained 10 in the last 3 weeks  I dread Monday's appt.

It's so odd to me that no matter what we do our bodies will gain whatever they gain, not what we are trying to do.

I really hope not. I thought GD was supposed to make BIG babies!?

no kidding! I am wondering where the weight is coming off because it certainly isn't in my belly.

Not in my belly either. I think my skin is getting to the point where it is starting to burn and itch because it's stretching so much!

Congrats to you! I get upset sometimes because my OB's assistant (it's always the same lady who weighs me, takes my BP, and sticks me in the room) doesn't wait for the scale to get exactly in the middle, so I know a few times she's just rounded up a few lbs and it really pisses me off! It's like, just wait a few more seconds so that I can see the accurate weight!
