When are you supposed to stop sleeping on your back?

So I know that at some ponint you are supposed to stop sleeping on your back because it slows blood flow to the baby. Does anyone know at what point your are supposed to stop sleeping on your back? I forget, and I sold all my pregnancy books! Thanks!

I'm still hoping that's all a lie and sleeping will never be uncomfortable. Smile

I am not sure of a week that you should stop, but its good to go ahead and start training yourself to sleep on your side. Get a big body pillow. they help!

I've been meaning to post this too - or when do you have to stop sleeping on your stomach?! I guess when you just get too big?

I've been side sleeping since I found out I was pg but its not comfortable.

It's really all until you can't. I did with Ds until it was just too uncomfortable. You will feel it. This time, I love sleeping on my tummy, but I feel the big lump under me so I just don't stay on my stomach long.

Me too, stomach sleeping is my favorite. I can fake myself out by putting a pillow up against me, but it still not as nice. lol

I have read that you should sleep however is comfortable for you. I looove stomach sleeping and am still able to do it but not for much longer I don't think. When pregnant though and it is noticable I hate being on my back. I start feeling funny and a little lightheaded, etc.

I'm thinking somewhere around 15-20 weeks. Sleeping on my back isn't very comfortable for me anymore so I am side sleeping now. I need to find my big pillow from last time. That thing was awesome!

Yeah, that's what I meant by you will feel it. You get light headed and just gross, it feels like someone is sitting on your stomach. For those of you with children already, you may know how this feels already.. my son just keeps jumping on my tummy when I lay on my back, so that is ruled out now around him haha.

@ jeep... it's really more of a comfort thing, once you're well into your second trimester you'll start to just feel more comfortable on your side!

@ Jenn... this is what drives me nuts because I'm definitely a stomach sleeper! I'm still sleeping on my stomach and will until it makes me uncomfortable. I do sleep on my sides too, though!

I really don't think there's a set week in pregnancy that you're supposed to change your sleeping patterns... just when you're comfortable doing it! Baby has plenty of cushion in there regardless, so you don't hav to worry about squishing them!

I am a side sleeper anyway except for first thing in the morning when I wake up I sometimes roll to my stomach, but even then I bend my one knee and kind of prop myself up a bit. I'm wondering if I am going to need a body pillow like everyone suggests. It just seems like it will take up a lot of room in the bed and I switch from side to side pretty frequently. I might just have to move into the guest room. LOL. At least by the time we are pretty big, the weather will be cooler. Smile

I'm definitely thinking about putting a regular-people bed in the babies' room, assuming we're able to get a 2-bedroom place, and am also thinking I'll probably need to move out of my boyfriend's way (or he can move) when I'm GIANT!
