BH contrax have been out of control over the last 24hrs. I don't remember having any with DD, but maybe I didn't know what they were and I know they weren't painful at all. These are kinda painful. Just belly getting hard for a period of time then relaxing.
I don't think it's labor, but I'm wondering.... do BH Contractions do anything to help soften or dialate?
Have my first internal today and I'm VERY interested in seeing if there is anything going on. I'm sure there's not, it's so early. But I can't help but be a little hopeful.

Did you find out anything yesterday? I have been bombarded with BH the last couple weeks just walking around Target and etc. From what I know they *can* help soften the cervix or progress things a bit but not always. I will be curious to find out too if I go earlier (before c-section date) this time around. I did not have them as much with the other 2.
Kristy I'm anxious to hear how your appointment went!
While most of the time they are just a way for your body to "practice" they can do something if it's the start of labor. At least that's how my mw and OB have always explained it. Preterm, they always want me to call if I have 4 or more in an hour or that don't go away with resting, hydrating blah blah blah, though being so close to 37 weeks I doubt they'd be very concerned.
With DD, I had PTL that was stopped at 32 and 35 weeks. At 32 I was 50% effaced and 1-2 cm dilated. I had contractions all the time but stayed at that progression until I delivered.
I can't wait to hear how your appt went either, Kristy! Here's hoping those BH did SOMETHING besides annoyance.![]()

So 0% Effaced and 1cm dialated at appt yesterday.... so nothing. I didn't ask if BH contracts dialate the cervix ... nor did I get a chance to ask if I could/should take EPO. New doc and she didn't find my comments about trying to go into labor now very funny.... she wants me to get to 38wks at least.

I have had tons of BH contractions with each of my pregnancies and they didn't seem to do much as far as progression... well, that said, I did have one monster BH contraction at 31 weeks with my last baby and about 5 minutes afterward, my water broke! So I ended up being hospitalized for 3 weeks while they kept me pregnant. No fun.
This time, my BH are particularly uncomfortable. Doc says baby is low and engaged so maybe that's why? Not sure, but they definitely take my breath away and cause me to wake up at night. Ugh.
At my appointment today I asked the question - the DR said the BH contrax do help to dialate/efface.
