So the DR said not to do it b/c it makes for crazy poops on the table. But you know what? I could care less about that and just want to have this baby!
Should I do it? yes or no???

I feel like I should add/remind that my due date (according to DR based on measurements at first U/S) was 12/4 and I was"close to 4cm" at Tuesday's appointment and have been having contractions since Monday... they're just not very painful or escallating.
Have you read up on 'castor oil packs'? I was just reading about this yesterday. It's supposed to be an external way to use castor oil to start up labor instead of ingesting it. That's my vote! ;)
But.... if you DID drink it, I'd say as long as you didn't drink too much, go for it!
I voted no only because I, personally, do not know enough about using Castor Oil and from what I've read online, it seems medical induction is (arguably) safer. Oh, and this:
"Castor oil almost always causes diarrhea. Its primary use is a stimulant laxative. It has an unpleasant taste and may cause nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramping. If you do not wish to experience these symptoms, do not try castor oil. Before using castor oil you should consult your health care provider."
Just doesn't appeal to me, but if you are certain you might go crazy before Tuesday (and I can't blame you for that!), maybe you could call your doc and see what their take on Castor Oil is?
I have taken castor oil with ALL of my pregnancies. It either put me into labor or cleaned me out (as unpleasant as that is). With my last baby, I took it and I didn't think it would work, because the latter happened, but then I started having contractions and had a baby that night. I have talked with my dr. about it before and he told me to go ahead and try it. I just take the lowest dose--it's gross, but last time I had a candy bar to shove in my mouth right after I swallowed and it helped a ton. Good luck!!!
I'm not sure how to vote as you know your body best. I personally am not a big fan of the idea but I'm also not in a situation where i'd feel comfortable pushing things because I'm high risk. I have heard it go both ways as far as how well it works. I think like anything OTC, if your body's ready the CO would just push you off that edge. If your body isn't ready, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about the BM on the table.
Oh and not that anyone wants to deal with pooing during birth, but I laughed when I read that your OB mentioned that as a reason not to as it could happen to anyone just from pushing!
I voted no but again every situation is different. My biggest thing is risk of dehydration and how miserable it would make labor. In both my pregnancies I have had to be hospitalized for dehydration due to m/s so I absolutely hate that feeling. If your body is ready and u just need a nudge to push it over the edge then maybe...my contractions are getting worse nightly so if I'm still pregnant after my due date my answer might change. :) good luck either way.
"lurking here"
Thankfully I've never been desperate enough to try it. I am intrigued by it though. Did your doc/midwife strip your membranes? That's what put me into labor with every single one of mine!
Thinking of you today, Kristy!
Just wanted to say I hope you're doing well (and hopefully your LO is here!) Kristi. :D
