I hate heartburn

Holy cow! My heartburn has kicked into full gear over the last couple weeks. It started out only bothering me at night after dinner, but it's slowly become an all day thing. I have been eating Tums here and there, but they don't do much so I figure whats the point. Anyone have any other good ideas for soothing it? I already take Zofran because I am still throwing up with the m/s and so I really don't like to keep taking meds while I am pregnant. I only take the Zofran because I truly need it.

On a little side note, I have stocked our freezer full of ice cream. I eat it every night and it is happily one of the things that I eat that actually brings me relief from the heartburn for at least a little while. DH thinks I am using it as an excuse. He's half right /half wrong. I mean, ice cream is so yummy and if it helps, then why not enjoy it? Smile

I feel for you! Heartburn is something that I know is inevitable for me. It usually kicks in about 20 weeks and yup it kicked in last week. I survive but chewing Tums as it usually doesn't flare up until the evenings and I can get away with taking two doses of Tums to counter it. I battle it by changing my diet too. I always seem to crave orange juice for the first trimester or so and now avoid it. I keep a small jug of chocolate milk in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer and that helps soothe the heartburn as well.

Good luck! Right now it is just an evening issue but I am sure it's going to turn into an all day problem and then I'll be searching for new remedies too!

I've heard milk helps. My friend ate mint choc chip ice cream every night and it helped her. I always have MAJOR heartburn. I start out with tums, then move to zantac and with my last and this one have now resorted to protonix (prescription med). I hope you find something that helps!

This was actually exactly what I was going to recommend!

I'm so sorry you all have heartburn... it's terrible! I eat ice cream every night and don't have heartburn yet! LOL My excuse is that maybe it's preventing it since I usually have severe heartburn by this time in pregnancy. How's that for an excuse?!? LOL
