    Default I really need to buy a _____!

    What is the last thing on your list to get before LO gets here?

    I know I've been slacking like no one's business, but DANG, this time of year combined with the holiday's is making it sooooo hectic.
    I really really need to get a nipple shield. I had such issues with Seth and BFing that I *know* it'd be in my best interest to get one now, instead of when my poor 'girls' are crying out.

    I think what I need to get are replacement accessory parts for the used Medela pump that I bought but I'm kind of holding out hoping that the hospital will give me some parts. They did when I had my last DD! I can't think of anything else that I need at the moment. I'm sure something will come up!

    Heh heh. Don't feel bad! I never knew what one was until AFTER my second and I was dying in pain. It's a little plastic bendy thing you put over your nipple to help babies learn to BF and train your nips to 'pull out' with out the bleeding and cracking that can sometimes happen when babies have a poor latch. With DS2, I was a bleeding horrible mess! SO much pain. :/ After my mom suggested one, I couldn't believe how amazing a little piece of plastic could be! Here's what one is like -------> http://www.diapers.com/p/medela-contact-nipple-shield-309954?site=CA&utm_source=cse&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=MED-040&utm_campaign=Google&CAWELAID=1338703107&utm_content=pla&cagpspn=pla&ci_kw={keyword}

    Marie - THey should offer you a few nipple shields to take home if you're having/suspect you'll have latch issues. We had to use one with DD to get her to latch (she had a hard time being so tiny). If we need one this time around, I'm making sure he's weaned from it by 6ish weeks. DD wouldn't give hers up until 9 months and I was so lucky it didn't effect my supply or cause her to fight me.

    Jamie - I want to replace some of my pump parts too (namely the tubing) just to sort of revive it. I'm sure the hospital will come through on that. With DD, they gave us all the parts to the hospital grade Medela Symphony and the tubing fit my pump n style once DH cut off the symphony attachments.

    We either need some extra receiving blankets or burp cloths. I have a few left from DD, but a lot of the prefolds I used for burp cloths were too beat up to keep. While they grow out of swaddling fast, I like having receiving blankets to use for burp cloths/something to lay baby on when we're out. We also need a car seat cover but we have enough warm clothes/blankets to keep him warm if we don't get it before he comes.

    Mia, my hospital seems to be a little......... blah..... when it comes to care for nursing mothers. :/ I *thought* Seth might not be latching on right when I was there, but the nurse said 'everything looked fine'. Hmmmm. When we got home, YEEEEEOUCH! Thank God my mom could offer me some insight. That stinks your daughter was hooked on one for so long, but good it didn't seem to effect your supply. I can't remember how long I had Seth use it; maybe a month?

    That really frustrates me when hospitals aren't well equipped/encouraging of a strong latch before baby leaves the hospital. Nothing against those who formula feed, but I felt so lucky to have such a supportive L&D nurse, pedi and IBCLC to help make sure DD would BF despite our needing to supplement her through finger feeding until my milk came in because of her weight.

    I am praying that this LO will latch fine and not lose such a dramatic amount of weight so we won't have to supplement at all, but if we do I'm going to just insist on an SNS to make things easier.

    Another thing I thought of that I want to get DS is a mirror for the car. I know a lot of people don't like them because it's a driving distraction but we still use the one we have for DD and we all love it. Especially with a toddler in the back who's RF I want to be able to know she's not throwing things his way.

    Oh wow, that is a long time to be out of work! So the docs don't want Jay to go to daycare until he's about a year old? He looks great in the last photo you posted of him, btw!! I'm glad you got a bunch of breast pump parts from the hospital. Hopefully I will get some as well. Check out Amazon's selection of baby stuff--including bibs! I love shopping online
