My mental state.... (vent)

So I think I've figured it out. With DD, since it was my first, I just assumed that I'd be late. So when she came on her due date it was like she was early b/c I wasn't even expecting her. With this one, being my second, I was sure that it would be early.... I've been expecting it to be early. DR office has my EDD as 12.5 and I have it at 12.8... so I'm just 39 weeks (or not quite if you go by mine). So why am I so mentally spent and annoyed that the baby isn't here yet? GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!!!!

LOL! Love it! I think I might have this mind set too, because of my 2nd son coming early. And then of course, number 3 will probably come in January! Why do they HAVE to wait till 40 weeks?! Just come on out kids. We're ready.

((HUGS)) I hate seeing people feel like this. It sucks being uncomfortable and I think the whole "full term at 37 weeks" thing has a lot to do with the impatience because the whole birthing world has put so much emphasis on things happening "at any time" after you hit 37 so it feels like we're cheated when we go longer or past our EDD. Not trying to sound negative or slight your train of thought at all Kristi, I just wish that more OB's/birthing professionals would focus less on the 37 week mark.

Have you tried a birth ball or using natural induction methods (EPO, DTD etc) to see if baby's getting ready and would respond to a little nudge? Wink I hope you're able to get some relief soon! I'd buy nonrefundable tickets to something fun (and cheap) as babies seem to love interrupting our plans.

:lurk:

I know exactly what you mean. Because of my preterm contractions starting earlier and earlier with each kid, and my middle 2 coming at 36 weeks, my doc kept telling me that I would be lucky to make it to 35 weeks. So, once I reached 35 i breathed a sigh of relief. Then, when I got to 36, i expected him to come. So, by the time he came at 38 weeks it felt like I was 2 to 3 weeks over due Sad

Hang in there mamas, your times are coming, and your los will be here before you know it Smile

THis is what I'm thinking- I'm angering the labor gods by being too prepared. I'm going to unpack my hospital bag.... plan something fun... have DH get really drunk. I just called and made my OB appt for next week. The season finale of Boardwalk Empire is Sun, maybe baby will interrupt that.

DD has a bouncy house birthday party to go to on Sunday.... I should totally go bounce (although I'm sure the staff won't let me lol). Haven't really tried any natural options. My DR said not to do caster oil because it makes you crazy poop on the table (love that she told me that). I wonder if I could get DH to dtd with me. Hmmm.

LOL I totally feel this way too! Although, for me, it's less about anything my doctor has said and more about my own expectations. My water broke at 31 weeks with my last one so I was breathing a sigh of relief once I made it to 32 with this one, and again at 33 and again at 34. But after that, my relief has turned into anticipation, which is quickly becoming annoyance!

Ok, I get what DTD is as far as a natural labor inducer (is anyone comfortable enough to do that anyway? I'm definitely not! LOL), but what is EPO?

EPO is evening primrose oil. It's a capsule used to help soften your cervix. All the herbal type induction remedies out there (evening primrose oil, red rasberry leaf tea, caster oil etc) won't put you into labor, but for some they can help encourage things along if their body is ready.

I wouldn't recommend the bouncing anyway unless you want your OB staff freaking out about possible abruption. I literally went into a bouncy house for 10-15 minutes, didn't really bounce or do anything besides show DD how to jump and sit down carefully but because I had to get monitored at 22 weeks. They said if you have damage from it, it's the same concerns as a car accident so they like to be extra careful.

Mia, you're right... I remember you talking about that a couple of months ago and I wouldn't dare get into the bouncy house at this point! As tempted as I am....

The prostoglandans in semen are wonderful to help dilate the cervix. Of course I had to tell DH that when he asked what pelvic rest is really all about (I was on it forever with DD and for a little while with this LO) and now he seems terrified of it . If we make it to 37 week and the amnio doesn't put me into labor, I'm insisting we DTD to try and get my labor started before induction.

I agree with rushing babies out!! I told dh that at 36 weeks we will be dtd 3 times a week ! I just want to meet my little peanut already !!!
