Pacifier preference

There are SO many types of pacifiers out there to try. How did you settle on which one to get your new baby? Do you think the age bracket on them really makes any difference? What kind does your baby like? If your baby doesn't use one, what do you do to 'pacify' your baby when they are cranky? Share a pic of your baby enjoying their paci, or a pic with you! Smile

Philip was NOT having a paci in the beginning. He started getting a tummy ache a few days ago (hooray, I'm lactose free now *sarcasm*) and he needed a paci for sure. We started with a Dr. Brown paci with the flat tip. He really liked it, but the whole thing was too big and was ramming up his nose. LOL Here's a pic of him with it.

We switched him to the NUK 0-2mths paci and it works muuuuch better.

We've tried a few but haven't had a ton I luck. Sometimes he will take a NUK but only keeps it in for a few minutes then loses interest before it soothes him completely. We also tried gumdrops (NB size) and MAM. He sort of took a MAM too but he gags on them easily. I bought the 0-6 size in NUK and MAM maybe I should have gone with the NB. I hope he will take to one at some point so my noobs can get a break. I don't mind comfort nursing but I know DH and others feel bad they can't soothe him the same way boobs do.

ETA Marie I'm sorry you've had to go lactose free. It's a hard road to start on but it gets easier with time.
For soothing methods besides BFing he likes his bouncer most of the time. It has a self bouncing option that almost always puts him to sleep.

Sarah will only take a soother if I am holding her and she thinks it's the boob. But she does take it then at least and usually once she's started sucking she'll continue happily! I am using the nuby orthodontic ones. I probably don't even have a picture but I'll check...
