QOTD - 6/12

I've been on vacation and slacking on my duties.

Today's QOTD: What was the last movie you saw? Give a mini-review of it.

Drive with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan.
We watched it on Netflix this weekend. I wanted to see it in the theater several months back, but never made it. I thought it was supposed to be a dark comedy or something, but it totally wasn't at all. Basically, Ryan Gosling works at a car shop in LA by day, does stunt jobs for movies on the side, and by night(or still by day) he has this illegal gig where he drives a getaway car for criminals who want to rob pawn shops, banks, or whatever. He gives them 5 minutes and drives like a maniac away before the cops can catch him or the bad guys. Carey Mulligan is his neighbor that he ends up getting caught up with and the movie gets all crazy and dark. It was good, but some scenes were hard to watch.

I wish I could remember the last movie I watched outside my home. Oh gosh how sad is that lol Life of a mommy I guess! My last movie to watch in general was My Little Ponys Adventure to something island lol I am hoping to take my daughter to a movie tonight (Madagascar 3) or tomorrow (: She's three so it'll be her first big kid movie trip!

ooh I liked Drive and I LOVED We bought a Zoo! I can't wait to own it!

I rented Man on a Ledge last night. I liked it! It's about an ex-cop convicted of stealing a $40 million diamond from a rich business mogul. The cop breaks out of prison and ends up on a ledge of a building as a suicide jumper. As the negotiator tries to talk him down and the crowd and media watch from below, a jewel heist is taking place across the street in the rich business mogul's building unbeknownst to all since all the attention is on the man on the ledge.

I thought the action was intense and the acting was well done. I thought it was a little tacky that the one girl in the heist had to be shown in her bra and underwear once and in ridiculously low cut shirts otherwise, but overall the movie was good!

My last trip to the theater was to see Hunger Games. I thought that they did a pretty good job telling the story from the book. There is a lot of inner monolog that they could have found a way to get on screen that would have enhanced it a lot. I saw it with my SIL who didn't read the book and some of her follow up quesitons made me realize that they didn't do the best job of fully portraying the poverty of the districts or why Katniss was being lovey/dovey with Peeta but didn't seem like she was in love with him.

Totally agree wih you! I liked the movie, but I felt like it was lacking in some areas and was a little confusing for someone who never read the book. I just started the 3rd book this week. It's been harder to get into than the 1st two books.

The last movie I saw was Prestige and it was awwwwsome! (last movie in the theater was kid related and I'd rather not review that. Lol)
This movie starred Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as dueling magicians during the early 1900's. It has an ere of mystery and magic surrounding it where these two become obsessed with one another and learning the other one's 'tricks'. Or are they tricks? The ending made me instantly want to watch it again, b/c I didn't see it coming. Partnership, betrayal, obsession, and magic.

The 3rd book was my least favorite but did tie off loose ends and wrap up the trilogy nicely.

Saw this one in the theater and agree that it was an amazing story and ending.
And it does make you want to watch it again to see what you missed!

Aw Prestige was such a good movie! You totally made me want to watch it again. Did anyone watch the Illusionist as well? It came out around the same time. I liked them both but still always get them mixed up.

Troy and I went to see What to Expect When You Are Expecting a couple weeks ago as a date night. It's one of those Hollywood "cast" films where they get a whole bunch of celebs to do various storylines that are lightly intertwined. It was just what I expected (haha). It was cute, funny, made me cry but certainly not by any means a great movie.

F, I just messed up my drying nail polish typing that. Sigh.
