Remind me of what to expect....

I'm a BTDT mom, but I can't find my what to expect book. I just looked up all the foods I can't eat to remid myself. Bye bye sushi :crybaby:

What else happens the first month do you guys remember?

Is there anything that you guys are going to ignore or "cheat" on? For example, w/DD I had one 16oz coffee every day (and she's totally fine)

Mmmmmm I love sushi. Thanks for the reminder. I honestly didn't pay attention to much of this the other pgs. It will be interesting to see what people say.

I don't eat much cold cuts anyway, but you are supposed to limit them and certain foods like tuna for mercury purposes.

I ate shrimp avocado sushi while preggo. It satisfied the craving juuuuust right. DH wants me to give up coffee, but I think a cup a day should be ok, don't you?

I think coffee is fine, I am not giving it up completely.

Yes! And I'll tell you something interesting I heard. If you cut out coffee/caffine completely, then you decide to BF once the baby arives then the baby will be sensitive to the caffine in your milk and it could cause disruption in sleep patterns.

Last pregnancy I stuck to one cup a day (travel size, so really that's two).

What???? you are able to eat during the first trimester??? Can somebody please tell my body this...it seems to disagree!

I'm drinking 1 cup of coffee a day if i need it, but i have gone off coffee a bit. I wont eat sushi, cold meats, pre-packaged salads, hummus, honey products, unpasteurized dairy products, raw eggs or raw egg products. I guess I am more on the cautious side, but I am weird with food anyway Blum 3 The only thing I will miss dearly is hummus and soft cheese, the rest i don't eat enough of to actually be bothered about.

Right now though I have aversions to everything except rice and yogurt :/ Everything smells/looks/tastes repulsive Sad

Also, my mum has been trying to tell me I'm not meant to lift heavy stuff....like my 4 yr old? What? I think that is silly...I'm not going to stop lifting my DD for a cuddle!

I just googled it and the web seems to say it can be a source of listeria if there's an outbreak and recalls take forever. I know in Canada they are pretty quick with this tho after Mapleleaf foods had one. I think it's also a myth about the soft cheeses because in North America it's all made from pasturized milk and not raw milk. As long as it's from US/Canada I think it'd be ok.

I would have to go in to the city to get soft cheese that was pasteurized, but yeah if you are not buying it from a local artisan cheese maker (as we usually do) you'll be fine Biggrin

I might be a bit crazy with the hummus thing, but i feel like if something went wrong then I wouldn't forgive myself considering that i was told by my dr to avoid it...but that is totally just me and I don't think anyone else should feel that way too.

How fun is this convo!! I am hoping and praying to get in on this very soon! Is it bad that I'm not even pregnant and I already have "what to expect"?! Are you ladies going to see the movie that is coming out... "What to Expect When You're Expecting"?

No it's not bad at all! B/c I own it too, and have never been pregnant! I actually bought it at a book sale at local library. It was only like $2.50, so I just couldn't pass up that price! I also bought "Your Pregnancy, Week by Week" (or something like that) b/c it was super cheap too.

umm I'm guilty too...DH bought me the book in Jan 2011, our first month TTC! We thought we were going to get pregnant right away so we wanted to be prepared. We were just a little bit off, but at least I have it for when we do get pregnant Smile

My dr says everything in moderation. I ate hotdogs like crazy with my second......

As long the sushi place is reputable.....I was told to go for it. Mind you I don't eat fishy stuff! lol
