sad post too...sorry kind of long. :(
My mom has just discovered they will be taking out a chunk of her lung. Background: She has some emphysemia to begin with and had accident earlier this year that completed broke off her elbow and her upper arm right next to her shoulder in a couple places. Her elbow was pinned and screwed back to together. She had a hard recovery and developed blood clots in her lungs and was seriously not doing well. She also develops pneumonia pretty easily. Anyways, whe has recovered and gotten off the oxygen although her shoulder healed all wrong. Now one of the spots on her lungs has been changing and she had a PET scan this week. They are now going to MRI or catscan her brain and make sure they don't see anything abnormal there and then take a chunk of her lung. Then I suppose they will determine if she needs radiation and chemo. She is pretty freaked though, but the positive is, this is operable and so far do not see anything else. I just don't know how her body will react to that surgery and then the possible treatment later.
Second half of the story: The scan was to happen the day after my dad made an emergency trip to the hospital with heart arithmias so I took my mom for her scan and then to see dad. (He has had a 101 lives with his heart...amazing) He will be having his second ablation surgery within the next month as well. He has had just about everything you can think of done with his heart.
In the mean time and of a smaller nature, ds needs to see a ENT for recurring never ending sinusitis issues. Had him in to urgent care again yesterday and confirmed he still has it and some impetigo in his nose since it won't clear up.
I hope I can figure out how to help my parents get their mind off of this stuff as they need right now.
