hi! This weekend I finally started on my grand plan to paint a mural in the nursery. I've sketched it out in pencil on the wall and yesterday started to add color. It looks pretty good. Except one of the colors is nothing like the swatch at the store..I'm thinking the one I grabbed was misplaced because it's like neon pink and the one I chose was much more muted. Not sure what I'm going to do about that.
This was the sketch I started with:
How's everyone else doing? Getting it together?
DH Brian 06/06
Furbaby Abe 09/07
m/c @ 5w5d 06/08
DD Mary 6/28/09
DD Bree 12/7/12
I love that idea! We haven't really done anything yet, unless you count moving the crib into our room and getting DD a toddler bed. We always wanted to do a forest type theme in DD's room, and since she technically has the master and will share it with DS, we'll probably stay with that theme and just decorate their own beds in more girly/boyish stuff respectively.
I love the owls! So cute! I hope you post some pics of the final project!!
My DD is going to share her room with the baby so I bought DD some twin bedding that matches the Glenna Jean crib set that DD used and that we designed the room around originally. I was so lucky to find the matching Glenna Jean set in twin on eBay for a fraction of the cost! I would have spent over $400 had I ordered it from a store, but I bought the used set on eBay for $50! WOOT!!! It's so cute--it's actually a custom set using the Glenna Jean fabric but this is the design: McKenzie Twin, Full or Queen Bedding & Decor by Glenna Jean Ju Ju Beane Boutique
So we don't have to do much to the nursery other than figure out how we're going to pack these two girls in there together since it's a small space. I'm going to have to get REALLY creative with storage options!
Jamie--such a cute bedding set! LOVE the colors!
I looked at fabric today while I was in town...trying to decide what to use for the baby blanket (I make one for every baby), but I can't decide what colors I want to use...how important it is to match the room, etc....
Thanks Lisa! I usually make baby blankets too. Hope I have time to do that this time! What kind of blanket do you make? I usually make really simple ones. I just get two different designs of flannel, sew them together, and crochet the edges. The funny thing is, my DS, who just turned 13, just BARELY--and oh so reluctantly--got rid of his since it was in shreds! Guess he loved his woobie! LOL
Yes this past weekend we had a garage sale since we cleared out the room. We were using it as an office/storage and now will convert it. We bought a crib but haven't assembled it yet. We have to paint still and I can't decide how I want it.
I love the owl theme! Kristy, I can't wait to see your finished mural.
Jamie, I have the same issue as you in trying to cram two kids in one room. Thanks my challenge right now. :/ Ugh! Can we hang stuff from the ceiling? LOL
DS2's room will become the new baby's room. I currently have it done in a wild animal motif and I think if by some miracle the baby is a girl, I'll add pink or purple accents. It mostly sage green, brown, and cream, so it's really inbetween sexes.

That's a cute mural! If I were you I'd just return the wrong pink paint and exchange it for the colour you wanted.
I am in an apt right now looking for a house so the walls are just white. When my first daughter was very little we just had white walls too... until she covered them with crayon! It washed off but it sure was a pain. My partner stays home with her while I work but it's not like you can watch them all the time and still get the laundry / cleaning / cooking done. At least it was mostly just in her room.
@DrakePlusOne I actually have a net hanging from the ceiling in my daughters room. It holds her massive collection of stuffed animals.
