    Default Switching ob's next week...............

So the office I went to decided they didn't want to deal with me anymore. This all started in June when they forgot to submit my paperwork to insurance for my Makenna shots. I went in for my June ant and they were supposed to send in the paperwork in May. These shots are required to start at 16 weeks, which was the end of June. Long drawn out process and 2 denials later. I basically told them what they needed to send in and they decided to send me a letter telling me I was discharged from the office. It was a total conspiracy to cover their butts. First they didnt send it it, then they didn't send in the required documents. I have to call Makenna to get put on a grant to have these shots intime for 16 weeks. I have 3 different insurances.... Medical, prescription, and medicaid for copays. They said they would continue treatment for 30 days... Well who the heck would want to go back in the office after all that. I had to, just to get my shot. I found a new ob within 10 mins, but that's not the point. This is a high risk pregnancy... I would understand finishing out treatment, but to cut off. Come on, that shows class.

Oh well, maybe it was the push I needed to leave there. I love the drs, but hated the office staff. They basically told me to cal my insurance and cry to them to get these shots covered. Umm, shouldn't that be your job as a dr. And they didn't even help me get the grant, I had to call the drug company myself. I talked to the new ob and they said that I should be able to take the rest of my Makenna with me, because it was my property. They were lucky they had it in a bag ready to go. I'm still waiting on my records to be sent. They have to mail them cuz there are so many. I asked to just have the Makenna ones faxed, but they gave me attitude about that. I'm sad not to see my midwife anymore, but I'm looking forward to meeting the new doc on tue. They were nice enough to squeeze me in within a week. I have to have my shots 1x per week.

    ok rant over

I am so sorry you had to go through all of that. How unprofessional! I just started the H17 shots yesterday and I can't believe an OB's office would be so irresponsible with something so important. I hope this new OB gives you proper care. The last thing you need in a high risk pregnancy is more stress!

Sorry to hear about all the stress you've had to deal with. Hopefully the new OB is fantastic and makes the rest of your pregnancy stress-free!

Wow... I can't imagine how stressful going through that would be! How frustrating!! Did you ever talk to your doc (at the old office) about how unprofessional the office staff is? I would just think that the docs would be interested in hearing that kind of thing. You didn't deserve to be mistreated and they certainly don't deserve your business!! I'm glad you found someone knew and I hope they will treat you with the respect and kindness that you deserve. Keep us posted!

Apparently the head dr made the decision. Like I said, they banned together and came up with this story... They were covering their butts and they knew they were wrong.. They said I threw paperwork. That's not me... I go there with my kids and that wouldn't be a good example. I just hope the new dr got my records today, or they are going to have to deal with them. i'm just glad i have my meds and I can start a new place.

When I went in there for the last visit, the ob i saw had no clue why I was leaving. the letter they sent me basically said we feel we can't live up to the expectations I have.. Umm shouldn't every dr want to protect their patients....

I agree that every doctor should make it a priority to live up to their patients expectations and make them feel comfortable, it's part of their job. If they feel strongly about doing something differently, they can discuss reasons why without being so unprofessional as to sweep things under the rug and point fingers.

I agree I'd let the new office take care of any slack on the old office's end.
