Default tummy bug *update* request for advice...

*update* well I was feeling better but I still haven't really left my bed and I'm still vomiting a little bit (not like before where i couldn't even have a sip of water though) I cant get out of bed without feeling really dizzy and i have to sit down on the floor with my head b/w my legs, I have a killer head ache, i feel really really tired and I just feel so yuk.

My question is: Do I go back to the dr? I called work and took tomorrow off but realistically I cant take much more than that off. I have 10mg of Metoclopramide to take up to 3 times daily but it seems to be a bit of luck of the draw whether it stays down. I am mostly concerned about the other symptoms since my vomiting has gotten a lot better, is it normal to feel like this at the end of a stomach flu? Im sorry if that is a silly question, Its been years since I have had one this bad!

Thanks in advance for your advice

They are awful when you are not pregnant but WOW I have never experienced something so awful...I would even go as far to say that this experience was worse than the 16 hours of labour I went through with DD. Stomach flu mixed with MS is just pure evil. I'm on day three now and I may try and eat something a bit later but I haven't eaten anything since Wednesday night. I'm just sipping on mineral water.

Yesterday the Dr. gave me a shot of something to stop the vomiting but it only lasted a few hours and although it was lovely to have a break from bringing up what little liquid was left in my tummy (sorry tmi) I still felt absolutely horrid.

I knew it was coming as I have had quite a few students off sick with vomiting, so I guess there is no way to avoid it but still if you can...do!!!

argh sorry that you got one too!! I couldn't believe how awful it has been...I am starting to feel a little bit better now, thank goodness! Three days is a long time for a tummy bug to go on isn't? any other I have had have lasted no more than 24hours.

I'm sorry you're going through this Mandy! When I had the norovirus this winter I could not believe how sick I was. Within 3 hours of catching it I went to the ER as I was so dehydrated and was getting worse. They patched me up with some Zofran but I still felt awful until it was completely gone 5 days later.

Prior to having noro, I would have agreed on the 24 hour stomach bug thing but I think it's probably normal that it's lasting longer and a good sign that the vomiting is letting up. If it helps you to feel better, it can't hurt to call your doctor right? Either way I hope you're over it soon!

I am sorry you are feeling so badly. I haven't had the stomach flu in years so I can't even imagine what you're going through. It can't hurt to give your doctor another call. I'm sure your body is still dehydrated even through you're not getting sick as much now.

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way, it sounds like you are dehydrated, I would call your doc and see if they would want you to go the hospital to get fluids. I hope you feel better soon!

Mandy! You poor mama! I would def see about talking to you doc. If you can't keep fluids down, you could be getting dehydrated and that can't be good for you OR baby. I hate water with my m/s. Do you think you would be more apt to keep down Gaterade or something like that? Frozen juice? Do you have FMLA where you're at? I would think it's going to take your body more than one day to recoup. (((hugs!))) Thinking of you!

Thanks ladies, I called and they offered for me to come in for another injection and to be checked for dehydration. I mentioned that I didn't like the Metoclopramide because it didn't stop the urge to vomit, just the actual vomiting and I asked if I could have some Odeansetron (Zofran) and he told me that it is listed as unsafe to use during pregnancy here in NZ...WTH? really? /sigh I really hope the morning sickness will be over soon because after this tummy bug I never want to vomit again!!

And Mia, I had no idea that stomach bugs could go on this long!!! I thought 3 days was long but wow 5! I'm on day 4 now and still not feeling right I'm better but I still cant eat. Did you DD get your virus too? I really hope that DD doesn't get it too!

Mandy, I'm so sorry you have been so sick! Being sick while prego is the worst! My dr. told me to try ginger ale for m/s...I wonder if that would help you now??? Might be worth a try to possibly settle your stomach? I hope you get feeling better soon!
