    Default A VERY tentative Hello!

    Hello Dec 2012vers!

Coming out of lurkdom to say hello and wishing everyone HH9M!

While not actively charting, I do keep track.
    I o'd around the 18th BDing on the 14th, 15th, 17th, 19th and 21st
Due to the fact that I am 47, my chances are slim to none, but my last 4 babies have all been 4 years apart and Josh is 3. So
I guess the main reason I'm posting is because my EED is 12/12/12 ~ how cool is that? My first baby is a Dec baby too so kinda like first and last baby thing. Anyway it's fun to think about...

Hi There! I agree, that is an awesome EDD and would make a cool bday.

Since you've got a Dec baby I'd love to hear your opinions/advice about Dec b-days & holidays (I'll be posting on the other dec boards these questions as well). I was tentative about TTC this cycle because I feel like people born in Dec kinda get the short end of the stick. But I was too impatient to wait (b/c I'd have to wait two cycles) so here I am, EDD 12/8.

I know this is kinda personal since we just met - but do you celebrate any December holidays? If so, how do you make your DS1's birthday special? How do you make him feel like they are 2 separate things and that the gifts are not part of the same pool.

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm teetering on the edge of excitement/sheer terror

First, I'd like to apologize for no avatar or siggy pic. I tried and tried to get that on there before I posted... argh.

Kristy, not too personal at all! We do celebrate Christmas and Sydney's birthday is Dec 20. I had the same concerns, and just asked friends and family to not give a Birthday/Christmas gift. It worked out just fine. She has her own special day and Christmas every year. As a matter of fact, when she was little 1-4 she usually ended up having several Birthday parties because my parents and inlaws wanted to have a special day with her. Now, JANUARY Birthdays are hard! We have 2 of those, on the 9th and 16th. I just feel done with celebrating, and really have to just suck it up and make their days special too. I'm pretty sure they don't feel gyped - I've never said it outloud or anything.
Congratulations! on your baby! I am so excited for you!

Lurker (though not out for the end of the month yet)

My birthday is in the beginning of Dec (5th) and that helped because it was still 3 weeks away from Christmas. As I got older, it came in handy, because if I wanted something a little more expensive, I could ask for a combined gift!
One of my SILs relatives' birthday is Christmas Eve, she got engaged on Christmas, and married on Dec 26th (or 27th?) - so all her "events" are within a week of each other - that would be bit too much for me (since some of it was by choice!

Good perspectives. I'm sure it will all work out and I'm worrying over nothing.

Mrs. KC - sorry to hi-jack your thread! Welcome again!

I was lurking (TTA but possibly not very well). My first son's birthday is Dec 8th. We celebrate Christmas (and a little Hanukkah with the in-laws) and it does make things interesting. I always feel like I have trouble balancing the gifts. I want to buy more for my other kids because I'm getting so much for DS1. So, I make a list. I try to match up Christmas gifts (a book for each, a toy for each, etc) and make sure I have different stuff for his birthday. We haven't done a party with friends yet, but when that comes we'll try to do it a little earlier than his birthday.
I'm going to try to start giving the kids outings with Mom and Dad for their birthdays (instead of so many gifts) so that might help separate it a little, too.

I have some personal experience with it, too, since my birthday is late Nov and my mom's is mid-Dec, kind of a family tradition, I guess. Since we live near my parents now I think we might start doing a 3 generation birthday party right around Thanksgiving.

I really like both of these ideas, especially the 3 gen birthday party!
