No special plans for labor day other than our neighborhood parade and last min work getting ready for day of school the next day.
So, afm, the past couple of days have been NUTS!! DH's job didn't notify their employees about insurance re-enrollment until 2 days ago and they had to be signed up by noon today. AND the premiums went up again for us by about $250 per month, which we really can't afford at all. UGH! So I spent every spare minute the past two days researching the diff programs for maternity available, alt cheaper ins (none of which would cover this pg and baby since it is "pre-existing"), and where I could find the cheapest self-pay dr and hospital. I learned way more than I ever wanted to know about insurance. However, I did learn that, even with c/s and 3 day hospital stay for me and baby, and self-pay with a certain dr, I could pay about $5000 for all of my pg and delivery, and hospital stay for both baby and I. The only catch is that it all has to be paid before discharge from the hospital, or it reverts back to the $20,000 I would usually cost, which jumps to about $50,000 if NICU becomes reality for baby. Under that program if I pre-paid, baby would only be $500 per day in the NICU too. Overall, not bad, however, there is no way we could afford it. We make too much money to qualify for any other programs, but the catch is we have too many school loans to afford the insurance going up any more than what it already is. So we are just sucking it up and figuring out a way to spend $850+/mo on insurance for the privilege to breathe. :/ (That's how it feels anyhow.) And DH is going to start looking for a better job come Jan, when baby's birth and all possible complications are behind us. :/
But I also discovered that there are no independent insurance plans with maternity in TX. You have to go through an employer for ins that includes maternity. Interesting. Are other states like that too? I'm curious.
Marie nope no plans for my birthday next weekend. My parents and brother that live in town will be gone and my youngest should be at her dads for the weekend so will just be me and my older two kids.
This weekend me and the kids went to my brother and sister in laws house. Their town is having their town festival so we came to spend time with them and go to the parade n stuff. Going to see Dispicable Me2 Sunday afternoon with all 7 of the kids. Should be interesting. I took my older two to see it awhile ago and they liked it.
IDK if I said this already- but yay about the dog!
Kati- Happy early birthday! Hope it's good for ya! That was really nice of him Holy moly 14 weeks... weird. it's crazy to think past the 20 week mark... you now have less than what you've been through at that point.
Roxi- THATS SUCH FANTASTIC NEWS!!! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU! Can't ya tell But seriously. thats awesome. i am so glad everything worked out for ya. must be a huge relief
Marie- Woah.. no bueno! My mom had gall stones when she was pregnant with my sister. She had to have surgery while pregnant.. and then they missed one and ended up having to do a 2ND surgery during the pregnancy to remove the gall bladder... idiots! Hopefully it is just baby squishing! KUP! I'd totally demand a bed! Have fun!!!
Jana- Sorry about all the insurance issues... Since DH is changing jobs I have to look into insurance because it would be about $550 a month to have me on insurance and the baby with his new job.. and he wont have insurance for 3 months! :/ Nerve wracking! Obama care thing goes into effect in 2014.. I haven't really had the chance to look into it but I am going to... You should too because I'm sure that it will have better insurance programs... at least i'm hopeful!
How do I keep up with things???? OH... I don't know. I don't feel like I am. I have been trying to deal with moving, school, riley, his school, researching, selling old items, remodeling, cleaning, cleaning the old place... I am doing every very poorly I feel like... But I'm doing my best. I can't wait until I can just settle down. We are going on a short vaca to see my sister in a couple weeks.. I AM SO GLAD. We are supposed to do maternity photos together.. she'd due Oct 8... but IDK... She said all day today she's felt the need to poop.. I think baby might come very early.. I worry about her and the baby. Her first was born at 36 weeks. I want cute little belly photos together too dangit lol. But yeah.. because I'm so busy I apologize for not posting QotD that frequently and such but I'm trying.. Plus.. questions are hard to come up with lol
DH went on a backpacking trip today and will be gone until Tuesday.. So I have no special plans...and i just get to miss him dearly while he's gone... I cried this am when we talked about him leaving and I cried after he left... he got all teary too. I love my hubby... even though he drives me nuts at times.
Went shopping for school stuff, the month's worth of groceries, Sunday school stuff, and then went and cleaned the church and started prep of our Sunday school room. Left the house at 8:45 a.m. and got back about 10 p.m. only to have to put away groceries still.
Exhausted. But saved money on groceries for the month, so that part makes it all worth it.
I do weekly milk, eggs, and bread (though I usually make my own bread, so I don't have to always get this) and if I need fresh fruit/veggies, that is by the week too. But I only save about $15-25 for all that for the month.
I plan out my dinners, or rather make a list of dinners and then pick from that list when I actually decide what to make on any given night. Usually only make 4 or so dinners per week. The rest are leftovers or a quickie sandwich/frozen food in the case of church nights. Usually DH's lunch comes from leftovers, and DS and my lunches come from sandwiches, corn dogs, easy to pop in the microwave and more portable stuff. I buy general stuff for the month of lunches and breakfasts, not exact #'s of things bc usually it isn't stuff that will go bad if it isn't eaten w/in the month, and I can always sub something else if I accidentally don't get enough. Also, I kinda just know how much my family eats in a given week. So I buy plenty of PB&J, box of corndogs or something like that, few tubs of lunchmeat, pckg of cheese, etc. I buy more according to what's on sale at the moment for lunches especially. There are a few things that are staples that I always, always buy, like tortillas, cheese, etc that whether I have something "planned" for it or not, it will definitely be used during the month.
I'm actually a really terrible planner. I make a list and plan out all meals before I go of what I think I will actually use and when, however, when I get in the store some of that may go out the window, and I may also get other stuff not on the list at all. I'm too random like that. DH on the other hand is not. If he sees my list and that I'm not necessarily sticking to it, it annoys him VERY badly. haha My plan tonight was not actually to get the full month's worth of groceries, bc I knew we usually can't afford to get it all at once unless I have carefully planned to do so, which I hadn't, but DH convinced me to bc we don't go to the discount store we were at often, so I went ahead and got a TON in order to make sure we had the full month covered. I was much less prepared this time that I usually am when buying for the month. But on the other hand, I was actually quite surprised that we stayed UNDER our monthly food budget, which I tell you had to have been a miracle bc we certainly got enough for the month and probably plus some.
Hope my scatterbrained thoughts help!
So tired but Im not. Ug. Got burnt today so I hurt. Tomorrow we are going to the movies and maybe the splash pady. My "diet" got chucked out the window today, been so hungry. Crappy but this will pass.oo
Awesome. Thanks Jana You'll have to help me out next month. Althoght I know we are going to have more money each month... I still want to budget groceries and try to save money. I'm hoping that we are going to be able to buy a better car now.. We will live over a short pass over a canal and I am just thinking about winter driving in my corolla and dreading winter soooo bad.
So the last couple nights have sucked. DH is gone and so I don't sleep well when he isn't around... And then I have let DS sleep with me. But.. I slept terrible the first night and so yesterday I took a big long nap.. and now i've had another terrible night. it's about 6:24 right now and I've been up for over an hour. I was trying to just go back to sleep for an hour and it wasn't working so I finally decided to get on the computer. Blah....
DH went on a backpacking trip that was supposed to take 2-3 days... it's 20 miles... his brother and he finished it in one day. lol. So he is probably coming home later today. YAY and then he'll have Mon and Tuesday off still. I am excited to be with him again.
Maddie thats great that you dh is coming home early. Hope you get some good sleep tonight then.
My kids atleast one of them and maybe a couple of my brothers 4 are still sleeping and its 7:37am. Taylor was up around 4am trying to get into the candy wr got at the parade yesterday.
