What challenges do you foresee with this pregnancy?

well--- i am thinking my BP is going to go wacky again, so i foresee being on bld pressure meds again.....which if that prevents pre-e, then i'm all about it.(the meds)
I have GD again, so i'm really hoping with the diet and excercise things will go okay - and that this baby won't need to spend anytime in nicu - the challenge is really watching and counting carb points....i eat realitively healhty, it's just i hate counting and keeping track of things and poking my fingers 4x a day....and due to all the bleeding in the 1st trimester, i'm at higher risk to have preterm labor - so i'm freaking out about that....i'm hoping that it won't be an issue and i just want to get through Thanksgiving...i did have my DD 2wks early, so i would imagine this one will not be 40wks either....

I don't really have anything to compare to but the things I'm worried about are NTDs (which we will test for in a couple weeks) and GD (just because I have a bad history with sugar intake and my mom's diabetic)

NTD = neural tube defects

We conceived while I was taking Lamictal (and I'm still taking it) and one of the side-effects are neural tube defects, like spina bifida.

I took lamictal with my son and just increased my folic and he turned out perfect. This one I was still taking lamictal dropped to 25mg then had the flu last week and quit taking it all together but still continue to increase folic acid

I've been taking 4mg folic acid since we started TTC in November but I haven't managed to get below 125mg Lamictal yet. It took me 6 weeks to get stable on that dose but now that my exams are done I'm thinking of lowering it again. I really want to be able to BF. I just need to get back to exercising, helps keep my moods stable.

We're extra nervous about the NTD's because DH has a Chiari Malformation in his brain and Chiari has a high incidence of occurring with spina bifida and tethered cords. Unfortunately because the skull doesn't harden until after birth Chiari is not something that can be detected in utero.

Biggest challenge = all my blood sugar control issues that start in the 2nd tri.

Next biggest challenge = keeping it together at school and being able, both mentally and physically, to work til the last day, then go immediately back 2 wks later....and yes, it has to be this way bc to our parents at our church school, I am the school, since we are so small. Soooo, can't afford issues with parents, tuition, etc there. At least baby will be going back with me though, not to daycare or anything...that is a comfort. Smile

So, there you have it! Smile

My biggest challenge with be remaining calm and not stressing. My last appointment really helped comfort me but I am guessing I will probably have a few more anxiety attacks before the end of the pregnancy.

Well, last time around hemorrhoids became an issue during the 3rd trimester (I couldn't even sit down for a few days) and I'm expecting a recurrence.
