Default What would you do in this situation?

I'm trying to be logical about this.

Last night I had enchiladas for dinner (so good!), but I overdid it and was sick with indigestion all night long. Hardly slept. My BF spent the night, and this morning we had some *ahem* intimate relations. I finally fell asleep after he left for work and slept for a couple hours. Got up, took a shower, came to work.

Since I got up, I've been having contractions. They aren't painful, so I'm sure they are Braxton Hicks. But, some are so tight it takes my breath away. They have been coming several times an hour, lasting anywhere from a few seconds to a full minute, since this morning. I haven't recorded them, so I don't know if they have any pattern or consistency.

Do I call my midwife? Do I simply stop by the hospital on my way home from work (in four hours)? Do I continue drinking water and taking it easy? This may because I've been sick since last night (still haven't eaten very much since then), or because of having sex, or because of too little sleep, or on and on. I don't want to spend unnecessary time in the hospital if I don't have to. I don't want to call the MW and have her tell me to go to the hospital, if I don't have to.

    So, what would you do?

From my recent experiences with not quite normal BH contractions I would say give it another day before calling your MW. It is most likely just the result of the combined indigestion and sex. (BTW "you go, girl" for still being able to have sex! My DH is convinced we're never going to have sex again)

Drinks lots and lots of water. Restrict your physical activities if you can. At the very least try to avoid bending for a while. Rest on your left side if you can (that supposedly increases the blood flow to the baby).

If you have any bleeding, or if you think your water has broken, then call your MW immediately.

What did you end up doing?

I would agree that if you have them quite a bit again tomorrow (more than 4 in 1 hr) I would give you MW a call. I always call first.... I think if I were bleeding or something like that and I was seriously concerned I would call on my way to the hospital. That's what I did with my loss. They didn't answer and so I just told them I would be going in and my Dr met me there.

With contractions though- Roxi gave some great advice.

    Thanks for your thoughts, Ladies.

I went home after work and laid down. I was in bed by 8:15. (My little boy wasn't happy about it, but Mama was ready.) My stomach wasn't as upset and I was able to sleep a little better.

Today, I'm still hurting a lot, but not having as many contractions. (*confession* I was having 8-10 BH an hour. I know that is double what I should be having.) My side and back are hurting, because I keep arching my back to try to have more room in my abdomen. Tonight, I will be going home and crawling into bed to relax for a while. I know I need to take it easy if I'm going to get through this.

As for the sex, BF and I are going away next weekend just to stay in a resort and be by ourselves. We both live with family (me because I am pathetic and still working to end my marriage, and him because he is buying his parents house and his mom lives there), so a little time away from everyone - parents, kids, etc) will be nice. I think it's going to be the last sex until after the baby is here, though, because - although yes, it's highly enjoyable lol - I end up with contractions for a day or so afterward. So I think it's time to put the brakes on that part for a while. Won't that be a fun conversation?

Next MW apt is a week from tomorrow. I'm holding out for that apt.

I was having 10-15/hr for at least 2 days before I called my doc...

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling a teensy bit better. Try take it as easy as possible.

Time away is a great idea! DH and I are always throwing the idea of getting out of the city around but we just never seem to make it happen and now I think I'm too uncomfortable to drive (DH doesn't have a licence).

I'm sure your BF will understand. It's not that long to go...
