How long...??

Hi ladies! Smile I'm wondering... if I'm not able to use FMU how long should I hold my urine before poas? Is it 4 hours? I am on day 155 today (last period was June 28th) and at 1:30am (here we get the strangest times for tests like that!) I will be having an MRI done on my knee. I just thought of it now, that perhaps I should do a hpt beforehand as I know they will ask if it's possible I'm pregnant. I personally doubt VERY much that I am, but I suppose it's always a possibility. And, what is a good brand of hpt to use? I know blue dye is out, and I was having some issues with faint lines on FRER. So I'm at a loss as to what test to use now.

Well, I would think at 155 days the test would be VERY clear and you wouldn't really need to hold your urine to get a line. Do you usually miss periods? Are you on birth control?

I've been told I have premature ovarian failure. I was having cycles between 26 and 40 days long until June. On October 1st I had an ultrasound done and my lining was at 4mm and had no cysts on my ovaries, but the tech said there were some small unmeasurable follicles. Haven't been back since then. I was testing every 2-3 weeks starting in August but have since given up after my appointment October 1st. I have no signs or symptoms of pregnancy. I just know they will ask when I go in tonight and if I say I haven't had a period since June, you can imagine how that will go over.

Oh, I see. Hrm... I'm really not sure. If you're getting faint lines, I wouldn't chance an MRI until I see a doctor for a pregnancy test. But if your condition could cause some of the pregnancy hormone, I'm really not sure..

Sorry I can't be more help!! KUP!

Premature ovarian failure shouldn't cause any hcg to be in my system. The faint lines I got on FRER were back in August and September. I wasn't pg then and at the time I suspected perhaps I had a cyst that was causing the faint second line. Went October 1st and was reassured there were no cysts. Unfortunately it left me with little faith in that hpt brand. Sad There is a slight possibility I could have ovulated in the last couple weeks due to some ewcm I was having. Like I said I doubt I am pg, just figured I should test just-in-case before going to my appointment. I have a hard time finding pink dye tests here. FRER and dollar store are the only ones I know of. The Wal-Mart brand we have here (Ontario) are blue dye and so is the pharmacy brands. I'm going to check Zellers tonight and see if they have a store brand hpt and what colour the dye is on that one. Any Canadians here who know if Zellers has a brand of hpt and if they are pink or blue dye?

Thank you for your help cindyanns! Smile I know I have unusual circumstances, it sucks, but it's what I've been learning to deal with.

you could have them expedite a blood test before hand. couldn't you?

Guess I've got my answer. And FRER was the only pink dye hpt I could find tonight at the mall. If I had a questionable result I'd ask for a blood test at the hospital. That was a good suggestion Nell4him, thank you.

As always...I'm sorry. I know you weren't expecting a bfp, but it's still hard.

Interesting time for an MRI appointment! Guess if I had appointments in the middle of the night I wouldn't miss any work though! Wink

Thanks Beth. I hate this situation I'm in but what can I do right?! Part of me wishes we could continue ttc because the dream has never died for wanting to have another child. But there is another part of me that needs to just let it go and enjoy life without ttc. I spent over 7 years on that roller coaster! *sigh* It's weird how they do that here. Most appointments are during the day, lol. It was very strange being at the hospital in the middle of the night. It was so quiet and darker. It sadly reminded me of when I went in to have dd. I arrived there at 4:30am when I had her because my water broke. Ah the memories! Biggrin

I went October 1st to my RE and I wasn't pregnant at that time. The u/s showed that there were no cysts on my ovaries causing my long cycle. I was also told at that time that my lining was thin and that there were small unmeasurable follicles on my ovaries. So that means I could potentially ovulate if those follicles were to at some point grow. Seeing as it's been 8 weeks and I was noticing ewcm over the past couple weeks I felt that it was a slight possibility. I'm not on birth control and I do have a history of irregular cycles and almost two years ago I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. What will happen to me and my fertility based on that diagnosis is unknown. Even my RE can't tell me what to expect.

Beth, I did find her website and looked through it but haven't had the chance yet to look for the book. I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it again. Thank you for reminding me! Smile

I pray for both of you!

Dawn...The author of "Inconceivable" had high FSH (the same issue Jodi and I have) and she managed to get pregnant. Very inspiring story. I can't tell you how many times I went back to that book to give myself hope!
