Test-Out Progression (last update)

10/3 - last update. Beta came back below 5, so negative. Sad Other hormones were still slightly elevated, but definitely on their way back down. Just waiting for AF to show her ugly face sometime today or tomorrow. In some ways, it is for the best. My sinus thing has blown up into a full blown sinus and bronchitus infection, complete with an asthma attack when I went to my regular dr. after the beta results. If I had been pg, I probably would have been fighting her about the nebulizer and the raft of drugs she decided to put me on to kick this bug's butt. So, time to get healthy and move on to IUI #2.

Thank you all SO much for the T&Ps. It means so much to have that support. :bigarmhug:

10/3 Update: My resolution to stay away from the sticks lost out a bit...got another very light line on IC this morning. Even DH said he saw it, although I'm never sure if he's humoring me or not. Didn't do a FRER because I really wasn't expecting to see anything, so I'd already gotten rid of my FMU. Oh well. Went for my beta this morning...they were having a busy day, so I really don't expect to hear anything until sometime in the later afternoon. Sadly, I'm also sick today so a trip to the regular dr seems to be in order. I just want to know what kind of drugs I can have before I go. Keep the sticky vibes and prayers coming. AF should have been here by now, so not out of it yet.

10/2 Update: Well, this morning there was still a light line there, but way lighter than yesterday. Hmmmm....anyone feeling dejavu? Still hoping that it'll somehow be a sticky and happily accepting all those T&Ps, but the consistency of this pattern is almost ridiculous. BFPs some combination of 11-13DPO, gone by 14-16DPO and AF just barely late. Going to step away from the sticks and wait and see what the beta says tomorrow (assuming AF doesn't start first since she's due.) I'll KUP!

BTW - One piece of "good" news out of this, even if it is another CP. The only follicle that matured was on the RIGHT side, where my HSG had looked like the tube was blocked. Apparently it is not and is good to go! If they could just figure out why I apparently keep conceiving, but nothing seems to stick. :dontknow:

My first BFP for this last cycle was with an IC and looked exactly like that at 13 dpo! Until I got a FRER to confirm it, I wasn't quite certain it was for real.

Yay!!!!! Congrats, and tons of sticky vibes coming your way!

Jean, so sorry about your beta! Sad I swear, testing for us gals over 40 really stinks because there have been several of us who have gotten lines on tests and it looked so promising till AF showed. No wonder FRER has that warning on the box about over 40. I've gotten quite a few promising tests in the last few months, even showed on inverted, but it's from being older. So that's why I don't think they are CP's, KWIM? Go read the box on FRER for more info.

P.S. I know that it's even more painful having a negative after an IUI because of all the effort that's gone into it. Sad

Thanks Jen!

I've read the FRER box. That's actually why I don't use them as a primary source anymore. I have one to use if I get a really convincing IC (or 3), but that's about it...I don't trust them since they changed them. Sad

Of the 4 times now I've thought I've had a CP, 3 have also involved variations in my usually consistent cycle (changes in timing and/or flow, etc) so I really don't personally have any doubt about whether they were CPs, sadly. This cycle with the extra drugs, who knows? I am again off schedule but I don't doubt that this morning was an evap/false positive. We'll see what happens from here.

Jean, did you start blood thinners at all? With my IUI they would not start any till I got a BFP. However, during an IVF cycle, I read they start them right after transfer which I think may be better for us with the antibodies. I remember before having my 1st son, I had so many CP's.

Nope, no blood thinners for me. After yet another set of b/w the hematologist said that my results were so borderline that she really didn't think it was the problem and didn't recommend treatment at this time. Results were weird, because one test would show an issue, but when they'd do their variation/dilution/mixing things they do in the lab, then it would look ok. She did say that if there were more possible CPs, she would retest again and revisit the issue in 3 months. (I'm glad it apparently isn't a big problem, but I do sometimes wish there was something to "fix", KWIM?)

I hope they get the timing exactly right for you on your IVF cycle! You deserve to see that BFP! :bigarmhug:

You got me thinking, and since I'm sitting her coughing, sniffling and BORED ROFL I did a little research this afternoon about WHY the FRER folks have added that warning to the box. It was really hard to find the answer! But, apparently the super sensitive test can very rarely pick up Pituitary hCG. Then of course I had to figure out where the heck that stuff comes from. Wink It can be produced in a very small quantity during a regular menstrual cycle, but usually in conjunction with the LH surge, so earlier than you'd pick it up on an HPT. It apparently can also be produced in very small quantities in either women or men, and can be a sign of some sort of malignancy (SO not going there) or perimenopause, hence the "over 40" warning. It does explain why they feel the need to cover their a***s with the warning on the super sensitive tests. The ICs don't claim to be nearly that sensitive, but I've seen plenty of folks who have gotten BFPs on them before they go them anywhere else. :dontknow: Something to think about, for sure.

I hadn't heard about the FRER warning. Had to go look it up, too! Interesting...

Jean, my blood tests are similar to yours, it's borderline, sometimes there/sometimes not. I'm going to make them retest me.

Again, so sorry.

/hugs
