At her age, I had put DS into undies, with Pullups over top. He felt like he was wearing undies, but we did not have the mess.
In addition, when ever her peed in the pot, he got a soft perpermint candy that he Loves. My mom use to pay me with a smartie.

Hmm! i like that idea about undies under a pull up! we've started using stickers, it seems to be catching on very slowly but she likes the idea!
update: so i now know that she CAN hold it! she's being sooo stubborn with this, will sit for up to an hour (i do not do this often as i know it's not good for anyone!) but then pee within minutes of getting up, pants, diaper, or otherwise. trying to figure out why she is choosing not to use it when she knows all the details and the rewards? time will tell i suppose, trying very hard not to make it a power struggle and force her while still strongly encouraging this. i'm sick of diapers!
well that didn't work! i think it's official and i need to resign myself to her stubbornness! she just doesn't care if she's wet or cold or anything, she is literally proving that this is something she will do when she's damn good and ready! lol! going to keep on just doing what we're doing, listening to her cues and all the good stuff and hope that she will 'want' to soon! thanks for the tips ladies, i'll let you know how it goes!
Ahh, shoot! I'm no help - that's when Ivy started really going to the toilet on her own! Her stubbornness was between 6mo and 14mo!
I would suggest doing just what you said - keep doing what you are doing and don't push it for a while. She knows what it feels like to pee/poop so she'll decide to stop pretty soon. Soon may mean several months, though! When Ivy was 17mo is when we started putting her in panties instead of removing a cloth diaper for her to pee...

okay i mean the actual thing not the doing! DO NOT LOOSE THAT CUP! the one that looks like it should be for boys only that usually comes off. SERIOUSLY! jade has distance that would shame her daddy! lol!! had to dig out the soaker pads from my maternity days to put under it! and i can't find the cup to save my life. there's one place it might be but i cant get at it right now and for 1.47$ replacement the s/h is $10

this morning jade requested her panties (ie refused her diaper and went to the sock and panty drawer) we've been doing an hour a day of panty time for about three days now and this morning that was it, she was not having the diaper, i even tried a pull up and that was a NO!! more than a few messes but as long as you catch her as soon as she starts and say 'oh no' she'd stop and run, the rest of the time she'd stop herself and run and there was a few of the big pees that were no mess at all! i think she's just so used to letting it dribble in the diaper lately. added like twelve stickers this morning! she kept drinking juice and water (chugging it!) then she'd have to pee again, it was so cute! normally not this frequent. can't wait to never see diapers again and i can see there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!!
we are officially having more stickers go out than undies getting dirty!!! anywhere from 1/2 hour to 5 hours each morning of panty time! her request! so proud of her jump in progress!!! today we are at 7 stickers and only 3 pairs of panties!!!
well the good days are outnumbering the bad ones so yay! she is still wanting panty time every single day, some days there are more messes than not, but we trudge on with smiles and stickers! she is working hard on holding it… sometimes a good thing, except when we have figured out that she's doing it to get more stickers!she'll sit and watch our faces to see when we are really proud then stop and get up and do the 'oooh mommy look what i did' dance. then 5 min later she has to go again! we've stared making her sit an extra minute or two, 'take deep breathes and make sure it's all out' before she's allowed a sticker. these kids are WAY smarter than we give credit sometimes!
YAY - glad she's made a turn around. That's actually a pretty quick turnaround. Any idea why she did a bit of regressing?

and we're slowing down again! she knows it all, she can do it all, she's shown that she's perfectly capable of telling us, holding it and going. now we wait as she resets her daily routine again.
as for the regressing, i can only think it's the dang canines, the bottom two are the only teeth left until the two year molars and there is some crowding already (ped dentist booked for nov) so i now they are really bugging her. also this week has been extremely busy but she did keep telling us potty and would sit on the public toilets (wiped down eeewww!) she didn't do anything but she tried and that's my biggy! hoping to get back on track over the weekend with more normal routines again.
